I saw what had happened at the time in the girl's consciousness.
The girl's father was reading her a bedtime story. She listened to his voice, felt the warm orange glow of the bedside lamp, and drifted off to sleep. Then the sound of shattering glass woke her. She opened her eyes and saw the dark room around her.
It wasn't completely dark. Moonlight shone in through the window. The curtains, printed with kittens and bunnies, weren't thick enough to block it.
A breeze blew in, stirring the curtains. The kittens and bunnies printed on them seemed to twist out of shape.
She felt cold and uneasy.
She saw a hand reach out from behind the curtains.
The curtains fell back into place.
Beneath them, a bulging silhouette appeared.
Someone had climbed in through the window.
The girl was terrified, but she couldn't make a sound. She didn't need to. She could use her ability to make her father "hear" her.
She screamed with all her might, shouting "Daddy" in her mind. Her father was still asleep, but he'd heard her and was waking up.
The figure made the curtains billow as it moved.
The person didn't pull the curtains aside. He just kept walking forward.
The curtains slid off him, revealing his appearance to the girl.
It was a mass of shadow.
I could only identify the thing through the girl's memories. The girl probably couldn't see the yin energy. And the accuracy of this memory was questionable, too.
I couldn't sense any distinct aura from the shadow.
The girl stared wide-eyed at it. The shadow walked toward her, step by step, and reached out as if to grab her.
"Hey! Who are you?" her father shouted from the doorway.
With a whoosh, something struck the shadow and scattered
