The splashing of people jumping into the water continued, and others were running after them along the bank. Everyone had come to their senses.
Li Yu swam forward as fast as he could. He was carrying a corpse and had just used up a lot of energy, so the others gradually caught up with him.
The first person to jump into the water grabbed Li Yu by the foot and yanked him right up in front of him.
He tried to snatch the skeleton, but before his outstretched hand could touch it, his body shot backward through the air. Along the way, he crashed into the people chasing behind him.
"Help!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, but in the blink of an eye, his figure dwindled to a tiny speck.
Only then did everyone remember that anyone who entered the water would be attacked by the fishing creature. They panicked.
Li Yu ignored them and just kept his head down, swimming.
He bobbed up and down in the water, when suddenly he heard someone calling out.
The cries didn't come from behind him, but from ahead.
Startled, Li Yu looked up but saw nothing. He clutched the skeleton tightly and sank a little lower into the water.
Not far ahead, a pipe jutted out underwater near the riverbank.
It seemed to be a sewage outlet, and the water around it was murky.
Someone and several skeletons were caught near the mouth of the pipe.
It seemed they had been swept there by the current and jammed together.
Li Yu spotted his former companion. The man's body had been pierced by a skeleton's hand bones. He wasn't bleeding and still seemed conscious, but he couldn't move.
He reached out to Li Yu, and the skeletons reached out too.
