I was only reading Li Yu's memories. Although I could choose how to read them—or what perspective to view them from—I had no body here, nor any soul. That much was certain.

Water surged toward me, but I couldn't feel it. I could only hear cries of pain and screams from within the liquid.

Neither the monks nor the police had expected anything like this to happen.

Amid the murky waves, I found the monk who had glowed the brightest with golden light earlier.

He was still conscious, blood at the corner of his mouth, but his eyes were clear, and he was trying hard to keep his balance.

The monk turned around woodenly.

"Master... How... that thing..." The policeman who had run over wore a badge on his shoulder, and he didn't look like an ordinary beat cop. But now he was so flustered that he stammered, unable to form a complete question.

The monk shook his head. "It shouldn't be... That's no longer a ghost. At least, not a ghost as I understand them—not the kind my master and the others taught me about..."

My gaze fell to the ground between them.
