My phone slipped from my hand and hit the ground.
I didn't look at it. After taking two steps forward, I started to run.
I rushed toward the smoke. Screams and shouts rang out all around me. It seemed someone was calling my name, too.
All those voices sounded very far away. I couldn't make out what they were saying.
The smoke loomed larger in my eyes as I drew closer. People fleeing the scene bumped into me, making me stumble, but I kept running.
Closer and closer.
I could see the raging flames now. Inside them were the frames of cars, along with the outlines of people.
It wasn't just one car that had crashed. There were two.
A chain-reaction collision.
But every car was a private vehicle, and this was only a four-lane city street. There was a speed limit, and no large trucks...
Boom!
Another explosion.
The flames shot several meters higher, swallowing the human figure I'd just seen.
It felt as though a knife had twisted in my heart.
"Meow."
I slowly lowered my head and saw the black cat right beside my feet, looking up at me.
Its form vanished before my eyes.
The tangible, concentrated yin energy dissipated, leaving behind the presence of a ghost.
But that presence soon disappeared, too.
"Move! Don't just stand there!" Someone grabbed my arm and dragged me backward.
My body tipped back, but I quickly steadied myself.
Gu Mo... Gu Mo!
He...
Boom!
Another explosion erupted, and the shockwave knocked me to the ground.
I hit the pavement. All I could see was a gray haze of smoke and dust.
No!
As long as I entered a dream!
The black cat was a ghost. I could possess it!
And Gu Mo... Gu Mo probably wouldn't work...
Xiao Gu!
