My gaze pierced through layer upon layer of ceilings, and I saw the yin energy hanging overhead.

After estimating the distance, I figured the ghost was on the eighth or ninth floor.

I glanced at Mu Ai, wanting to get her out of the building first. She wasn't a ghost anymore, but a living child. If she was attacked again, she could be hurt—or killed.

There were traces of ghosts moving around downstairs, but not many, and they all wore the courier ghost's chains, making them easy to kill. Once I dealt with them and got Mu Ai out, I could hand her over to any passerby. Or I could simply call the police and safely leave her with officers like Chen Yihan.

Mu Ai seemed to see right through me. She immediately clung to my leg and shouted, "I'm not leaving! Dad was going to—Dad was going to send me back to my room, and then..." Her eyes reddened.
