I thought of the worst-case scenario. My hand slipped, and the door shut.

I hurried to the balcony and pulled open the floor-to-ceiling door. A rush of cold air hit me in the face. I opened the window, and the wind immediately struck my cheeks. Leaning out as far as I could, I looked into the apartment next door.

The curtains in the master bedroom were drawn, so I couldn't see inside. Even so, the strange creases in the curtains told me there was a lot pressing against them from behind.

It could only be people.

The window caught the corner of my eye, and I saw my reflection.

I looked awful. Even in the faint reflection on the glass, I could tell.

I exhaled, turned around, and walked to the window on the other side.

From there, I leaned out and saw the window of the third bedroom—the other spare room.

The curtains were open, and there was no one in sight.

I went back inside. When I opened the bedroom door, I still felt resistance behind it. This time it was weaker, so I forced the door open and saw a corpse lying facedown on the floor.

The room wasn't packed with people, but there were still plenty of bodies lying and sprawled across the floor.

They had no external injuries, and there was no blood in the room. Their faces were all purplish, as though they had suffocated.

There was no yin energy left in the room, which made me uneasy.

This was the sort of thing a ghost would do. But there wasn't a trace of yin energy at the scene. That was all wrong.
