I stared at my phone and started spacing out again.
I wasn't sure what I should do next.
Maybe I should find Fatty and ask him to help look after my parents... Maybe I should tell my sister. I'd never thought about it before, but now I should consider asking her to take on more responsibility for the family.
The screech of brakes cut off my thoughts. The car stopped so suddenly that I lurched forward, then the seat belt yanked me back into my seat.
My back hurt from the impact. Before I could even see what had happened, I instinctively thought we'd been in a car accident. A second later, I saw that the car in front of the taxi had stopped just fine, and began to suspect the Ghost King had attacked us.
