That person was Zhu Mei.

Zhu Mei sat in this small room. A disposable paper cup sat on the square table in front of her.

The chair opposite her was pulled slightly away from the table, as if the person who had been sitting there had just left.

Zhu Mei looked terrible, the skin around her eyes and the tip of her nose faintly red. The trash can beside her chair was filled with used tissues.

She looked over in confusion and asked, "Excuse me, you are...?"

My heart skipped a beat as I looked at the woman walking ahead of me.

She remained composed. After entering the room, she waited for me briefly before closing the door.

She walked up to the chair opposite Zhu Mei, but didn't sit down. Instead, she pulled it farther out and moved it to a spot diagonally across from Zhu Mei.

She placed her left hand on the chair's back, then made the same motion with her right hand, her body perfectly symmetrical.

The pose looked strange, because there was nothing beneath her right hand.

But just as that thought occurred to me, I heard the sound of wind chimes and saw another chair appear beneath her right hand.

Zhu Mei's eyes widened.

Then two figures appeared on the chairs.

They were both people I had seen before: one was Wang Hongyi, the other Zhang Xiaojia.

Zhu Mei shot to her feet, knocking over her chair. She stumbled backward and nearly fell.

Her eyes looked ready to pop out of their sockets. Her body swayed, as if she were about to faint.

Wang Hongyi and Zhang Xiaojia fixed their gazes on Zhu Mei. One was furious and resentful, the other utterly cold.
