The woman put an arm around her mother-in-law's and looked at her feet with concern. "Mom, how's your foot? What did the doctor say?"
"It's fine, it's fine. They're just taking an X-ray to check." The middle-aged woman patted her hand.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law seemed to get along very well.
I listened to their conversation, doing my best to keep my emotions in check.
The middle-aged woman's number came up soon. Her son and daughter-in-law helped her inside, then came back out.
I memorized the middle-aged woman's name, nervously took out my phone, and sent Wu Ling a message.
Wu Ling replied almost immediately.
I didn't have time to read it. The middle-aged woman had already finished her X-ray, and her son and daughter-in-law were helping her leave.
Director Mao's family arrived soon after. I handed Director Mao over to her family, hurried away, took out my phone, and made a call.
Wu Ling answered just as quickly.
"They just left. They'll probably wait to pick up the X-rays, then go see the doctor. They should still be at the hospital..." I ran downstairs to the lobby on the first floor.
The radiology department was all in this old hospital building. The X-rays were taken and collected here, too.
I hadn't even reached the collection window when I spotted that family. I stopped at once and moved behind a pillar in the lobby.
"I see them..." My whole body tensed.
Wu Ling's voice was calm. "Lin Qi, don't do anything unnecessary. We'll be there soon."
"What are you going to do?" I immediately pressed.
"We just need to get a little of her blood. Don't worry, it'll be easy." Wu Ling sounded confident.
"Really..." I wasn't sure. What made me even more uneasy was...
"Such a coincidence..." I murmured.
