As soon as the video came on, a stretch of lush green tea bushes came into view.
The camera followed the man walking ahead, sometimes panning over the tea bushes around him.
"This should be the spot. They planted tea bushes all over it these past few years, so you can't tell anymore."
The man pointed and roughly traced a line, indicating a certain area.
The camera carefully scanned the spot.
There were no ghosts or traces of yin energy, just like the street scenes captured in the previous videos.
Wu Ling's voice rang out.
"When they filled in the well, did they ask anyone to perform a ritual?"
The man thought for a while before answering hesitantly, "I don't think so. That sort of thing is customary elsewhere, but not around here. When someone dies here, people don't usually ask anyone to chant sutras. A temple was built about ten years ago, and monks came over hoping to make a living, but things didn't go too well. The monks at the temple are all people around here who couldn't find work. They take some kind of exam, and then they can eat and live at the temple for free and get a small stipend. I'm not too clear on the details. People around here don't really go in for that sort of thing."
"Is it completely unheard of around here?" Wu Ling asked to confirm.
The man shook his head. "It used to be completely unheard of. Even now, not many people believe in it."
"But we saw a Buddhist symbol outside Tongren Tea Shop. The sign for Tongren Tea Shop was designed by your family, right?" Wu Ling asked.
The man chuckled. "Designed? They just threw it together. What Buddhist symbol are you talking about?"
