After Qin Shaofeng began making the same motions with his left hand as the old man had,
he was horrified to discover that the empty space gripped by his right hand seemed to truly contain a fishing rod.
Just as the strange creature before him struck down,
the fishing line on the rod suddenly lashed backward.
The strange creature saw this and was so frightened that it hastily retreated.

He turned and glanced around once more.
A look of astonishment appeared on his face again.
He saw that the boats ahead of him were all emanating a hazy white curtain of light, blocking those strange creatures outside.
He was not the only one who lacked such protection.
The sea clans on the boats around him likewise had no such defense.
While he was driving back the strange creature,
several sea clans had already died at the hands of those strange creatures.
As those sea clans died, their boats gradually began to dissipate as well.
One could imagine that once they vanished, it would be as though they had never appeared at all.
Although a few of them had seemed to be observing his actions before and had now sat down in the same manner,
they clearly had no time to watch the vortex old man's movements.
The cross-legged posture of holding the fishing rod had allowed them to barely survive, yet it had also completely robbed them of any ability to turn the tables.
All of them wore expressions of indescribable anxiety as they stared at him.
Seeing the situation around him,
Qin Shaofeng immediately steadied his mind.
This place was far too strange, leaving him no time to think about anything else.
