Jiang Lei, who was still in the real world, seemed to feel the pain himself. He clutched the part of his shadow that had been injured with both hands and staggered backward, his face contorted in pain. Yet the place he was clutching hadn't even been scraped.

A shudder-inducing chewing sound came from the restroom.
About ten minutes later, Xue Jia left with a satisfied look, walking lightly. Even the shadow she left on the wall had grown much more solid, while Jiang Lei trailed behind her like a walking corpse, his steps stiff.
Unlike Xue Jia's shadow, Jiang Lei's reflection on the wall was incomplete and wavering, as if it might collapse at any moment.
A few minutes later, a soft rustling finally came from the women's restroom. The sound was faint and furtive. A bloodshot eye pressed close to the back of a stall door.
The door was ajar, and the eye peered outside through the gap.
Zhou Ze, hiding in there, was on the verge of a breakdown. Who knew how badly seeing what had happened outside had scared him? He did his best to control his breathing and keep quiet.
He had hidden in the women's restroom specifically because he was afraid Xue Jia would come after him.
At first, Zhou Ze had planned to slip straight out, but things here were far more complicated than he'd expected. He quietly made his way through the crowd, relying on his memory to find the door they had entered through.
But then something strange happened. That door... the wooden door they'd come in through had disappeared!
All that remained was a wall. He had felt it with his hands. It really was a wall, and a solid one at that, without even a crack in it.
