Fatty leaned over to look. Jiang Cheng reached out and covered his eyes. "That's too brutal. Don't look."
After Fatty pried Jiang Cheng's hand away, he thought for a moment and advised, "Doctor, why don't you go talk to Wu? This is just too... too much."
Jiang Cheng took a bottle of liquor from a nearby table, now empty of people, and found two clean glasses. He poured himself half a glass and sipped it leisurely. "How am I supposed to talk to him? Should I tell him, 'Wu, stop eating'? Fatty Wang says you're making him hungry."
Fatty's face turned green. "Damn it, Doctor, don't get me in trouble!"
Jiang Cheng continued sipping his drink, watching Wu's shadow dart back and forth. He smiled. "Look how happy he is. Being happy is what matters most. Why worry about everything else? Those shadows aren't people anymore. Even if their original owners were still conscious, they wouldn't want their shadows being controlled. Wu's doing a good deed."
As soon as Jiang Cheng finished speaking, Fatty saw Wu bare his enormous mouth and drag out a shadow that was crawling under a table. Then he stomped it flat and lunged at another trembling shadow.
Fatty couldn't help shuddering. He closed his eyes and reassured himself, "It's all fake, it's all fake. The Doctor said Wu's doing a good deed—giving these ghosts a physical send-off. Yeah, it has to be!"
Jiang Cheng poured Fatty a glass of liquor and urged him to relax. But just as Fatty lifted his glass, a wretched cry for help rang out. "Help! Help!"
It was a man's voice. He sounded young, and his throat was raw from screaming.
Jiang Cheng sprang to his feet and looked toward the sound. Wu's mouth was wide open, but the shadow
