Gravel flew everywhere. Half the Judge's face slammed into the ground, mangled beyond recognition, and then he was hurled away like a piece of trash. He crashed through more than a dozen bodies that looked like empty husks before finally coming to a stop.
Wu emerged from the cocoon, his entire body wrapped in blood-red light. He looked like a god of slaughter crawling out of a sea of blood. Fine, dark-red cracks started at his feet and spread across his body like a spiderweb.
A terrifying presence descended. The walls and floor trembled, then began to crumble.
The Wu who appeared now felt like a stranger to Jiang Cheng. It was as if... as if someone else had taken his place. Jiang Cheng didn't understand why, until he caught sight of a shadow on the ground out of the corner of his eye.

It was clearly much taller than Wu, and dark crimson flowed across it, so deep that it almost blended into the darkness unless you looked closely.
Jiang Cheng had a lot of faith in Wu, but he still thought this near one-sided battle was too much for Wu to handle alone. Wu seemed to have gained some kind of forbidden power.
And the shadow behind him was the source of that power.
Clearly, Wu hadn't fully mastered it yet.
Jiang Cheng instinctively wanted to warn Wu, but the next second, the dark-red shadow seemed to sense his thoughts. It turned its head in an instant and fixed its gaze on him.
An indescribable chill swept over him, crawling along the ground. Jiang Cheng's legs stiffened at once, as if his veins had been packed with ice chips.
