"You're right. I think that's how it works." Tang Qisheng nodded emphatically. "But that alone isn't enough. If his toes are crushed, they'll bleed, and that could expose his identity. So we need to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible."
Li Bai stepped forward at that and took a small cloth pouch from the bed. "These are medicines I bought at the pharmacy. There's a powder in here that stops bleeding. It works very well."
"But no matter how we stop the bleeding, human blood energy will still seep out around the wound. It'd be best if we could get some grave soil. It's heavy with yin energy, so covering the wound with a layer of it would be safer," Tang Qisheng continued.
Everyone understood what he meant, but it was already dark. Going to dig up grave soil in the mass grave behind the courtyard now would be tantamount to asking for trouble. Surprisingly, though, the Fatty shakily raised his hand. Under everyone's astonished gaze, he pulled some dirt from his pocket. "Grave soil, right? I... I grabbed some when I went to the back courtyard today."
Jiang Cheng then remembered that, yes, that had happened. Before they left, the Fatty had said Yao Shunyu owed his survival to the grave soil, so he had brought some along too.
Tang Qisheng hurried over to the Fatty, took some of the dirt, and held it beneath his nose to sniff. A few seconds later, his eyes lit up, and he nodded firmly. "That's right. It's grave soil. No doubt about it!"
Before long, the paper clothes Li Bai had hurriedly made were ready. The Fatty tried them on, and they fit well enough. Zhu Jie then brought out the rouge and face powder she'd prepared and painted his face.
