"Nicely done!" No. 13 slapped his hands together in celebration, unable to hide his excitement. "I knew Wu would pull it off. The Old Scavenger is dead, so there's no way that Candle Bearer got away. Once we search the mountain, we'll find his body."
"What do you want his body for?" The Fatty didn't quite understand. Now that Wu was back, he believed there shouldn't be any Night Watch remnants left in the mountains. Wu had always been someone they could count on.
"No. 10, you don't understand. This Candle Bearer has a very high standing in the Night Watch. It's not just because of his strength. More importantly, he served as the link between the Night Watch and the Old President's domain. What we want is the lamp he has."
"I heard that lamp was taken from that car. With it, we might be able to open the Old President's domain, too," No. 3 explained in detail. His voice was always calm, and listening to him was a comfort.
"The rest is personal. The Candle Bearer has blood on his hands. No. 11 died at his hands!" No. 13's young face twisted with hatred. "Wu should've cut him down in one stroke. He got off easy!"
If No. 3's words had piqued the Fatty's interest, then No. 13's mention of a blood debt filled him with fury. "When my brother gets back, I'm asking him about it. We can't let that Candle Bearer get off too easy!"
Just then, voices came from outside, as if someone were being questioned. The next moment, the tent flap was lifted, and a figure stepped inside.
As soon as Wu returned, the Fatty asked him about the Candle Bearer. But Wu didn't answer, and his expression was grim.
"What about the lamp?"
