The main story of Nightmare Strikes has now ended: 3.66 million characters, 1,739 chapters, and two years and six months of work have come to a fairly complete close.
It's hard to describe how I feel right now. I'm a little happy, and a little sad. It's like saying goodbye to a friend who's been with me for a long time. We both have to set out on the next leg of our journeys through life.
All banquets must come to an end. Jiang Cheng and his friends deserve a rest, too. Their past lives put them through so much suffering, and I hope they can be happy from now on.
Next, let's talk about the final chapter. To be frank, it wasn't very well written. It didn't fit the style of the book; it was overly idealistic, and the happy ending undermined the whole story's tone. It also went against the outline I'd planned at the beginning.
But so what? I just wanted them to have a better life—a little better. Two and a half years of hardship had put them through enough. Their friendship and everything they'd done deserved a happy ending. Jiang Cheng would become the next president of the Night Watch, the Fatty would open a big hotel, Wu would run a tech company, and Huai Yi, Wang Qi, Yao Shunyu, Li Bai, and the others would all have bright futures. They'd earned it.
There'll be some bonus chapters. As for what they'll be about, you can look forward to finding out.
Let's talk about my next book. Those of you who joined the group have probably already heard a little about it. It'll still be an infinite-flow story, with the same tags: horror, supernatural, no CP. Unless something unexpected happens, those tags will stick with
