A moment later, Fatty seemed to snap back to reality, speaking rapidly. "Doctor, don't be sad. Perhaps, perhaps there's some misunderstanding. Boss Lin must have her reasons. I can feel it, she's sincere towards you."
"Stop talking," Jiang Cheng said, his voice low as he bowed his head. "You're right. Let's not fool ourselves anymore."
"Doctor," Fatty wanted to comfort him, even if it meant making up some fabricated evidence. But the words wouldn't come.
Doctor was Doctor. What kind of perfect lie could fool him? It was probably only someone like Boss Lin who could manage that.
After a period of silence, it was Jiang Cheng who spoke first. "Actually, from the first time I met you, I felt a sense of familiarity, an indescribable familiarity. We must have known each other, but I've forgotten."
"From the moment the first Nightmare ended and you followed me back to the studio, I knew something was off about you."
"But I observed you for a long time. You're clumsy and foolish, your thought process is unlike ordinary people's. Forget scheming; I was worried you'd be tricked and sold off one day." Jiang Cheng shook his head slowly. "Expecting someone like you to scheme against me... I feel insulted."
"But later, I couldn't believe I kept someone like you around for so long."
"Since you appeared, I could feel myself changing in a very strange way – my personality, my thinking, my logic, my judgment."
"I became hesitant, indecisive, and increasingly resembled the foolishness I often mocked you for."
"This change filled me with an inexplicable fear. I told myself that as soon as I uncovered your secret, I would make you disappear immediately." He said softly, "Disappear forever."
Hearing this, Fatty couldn't help but shiver. He hadn't thought that far ahead.
