Familiar Faces

The box slipped from his hands. He instinctively reached for it, but it fell just a little faster than he could move. His fingertips brushed against it, and the lid sprang open.

The next second, a dazzling white light burst before Jiang Cheng's eyes and swallowed him whole.

After who knew how long, Jiang Cheng was jolted awake by an alarm. He slowly opened his eyes. The first thing he saw was a stark white ceiling.

He was lying on a single bed.

It was a fairly small room, simply furnished. A table stood nearby, with a chair beside it, and the floor was tiled in white.

As the room's layout gradually came back to him, Jiang Cheng decided it didn't look like a hotel. It was probably an employee dormitory.

The evidence was a red banner hanging behind the door, with yellow fringe all around it. It bore the words "Outstanding Employee."

Jiang Cheng got out of bed and looked around. He didn't see Fatty or Huai Yi, but for now, he wasn't worried about their safety. The mission had only just begun.

Voices came from outside, both male and female. There seemed to be quite a few people. Jiang Cheng didn't open the door right away. Only when he heard Fatty's voice did he open it and step outside.

About six or seven meters away stood a group of people. There were even more than he'd expected: nine in all. These must be his teammates for this mission.

Fatty and Huai Yi were both there. Unusually, Fatty was arguing heatedly with a man.
