"After hanging up, I was completely stunned." The boss licked his pale lips. "According to what they told me, the person bringing the script got into a car accident on the way here, so the script never arrived. But DM said she'd already received it. What happened? Who gave it to her?"
"Once I'd calmed down, I called DM. I'd already sensed something was wrong, but I didn't ask her about it right away because I was worried I'd scare her."
"We'd barely chatted for a few minutes when DM started quietly complaining. She said the script was so unusual—why hadn't I told her beforehand, so she could prepare herself?"
"I did my best to suppress my fear and asked her jokingly what the script was called. She said it was called..." At that point, the boss's face turned ashen, and his eyes seemed ready to pop out.
"The Rain Night Murderer," Jiang Cheng said softly.
At those words, the boss began to tremble, then nodded emphatically. "Yes. That's right. That was the name. But the script I'd originally ordered wasn't this one. It was called Summer Heat. I remember clearly!"
"Who brought the script?" Xia Qiang sat beside the boss, his calm eyes fixed on him. His unusual presence seemed to ease some of the boss's fear.
The boss swallowed nervously and tried to remember. "I asked my DM, too. She said she didn't see who brought the script. She only received a message saying the script had already been delivered and was in Room 19."
"This is Room 19." The boss looked toward the tightly shut door and spoke quietly.
"My head started buzzing. The door to Room 19 was locked, so how could anyone have gotten in? I'd already told my employees not to come near this
