The elevator descended smoothly. Only when the doors opened did everyone finally relax a little. At least, outside wasn't what they'd imagined: Xia Qiang and Li Mengyao standing there, or some incomprehensible space.
There was no doubt they were on the first floor. In Jiang Cheng's memory, all they had to do was step out of the elevator and turn a corner to see the lobby—and the door that represented their way out.
The desk lamp in their hands gave off a faint glow, offering them a little comfort in this environment.
But strangely, the elevator was eerily quiet. The only sounds were their faint, hurried breaths.

"Is there something in the mist?" Yuan Xiaotian secretly swallowed, his thoughts racing. "Is it Qiang, or Li Mengyao, or... has that murderer come back?"
But none of those possibilities seemed to explain what was happening. What were they all doing, huddled in the elevator?
