The Transaction

"Miss Huang, what brings you here so late?" Luo He looked at the woman who had entered with his deep blue eyes. He wasn't surprised in the slightest; after all, he could sense everything happening here.

The visitor was Old Man Huang's granddaughter. Luo He vaguely remembered her name—Huang Si Nuo, he thought.

"It's nothing in particular, I just... I was passing by and wanted to see you, Mr. Luo," Huang Si Nuo said softly. She wore a white coat over a wine-red, formfitting qipao, its hem delicately edged with golden thread. The outfit looked refined and luxurious. She turned her face slightly, a flush blooming across her pretty cheeks.

"If there's nothing else, please go back." Luo He turned his gaze away and lowered his head to continue reading.

Huang Si Nuo, brushed off, hurried to explain. "Mr. Luo, please don't misunderstand. I really just... just wanted to see you and thank you for stepping in today and saving Grandpa, and all of us."

"That was the gentleman's decision. It had nothing to do with me. I was only following his orders." Luo He reiterated this, as if it were important to him.

"Mr. Luo, I..."

Huang Si Nuo seemed to want to say more, but Luo He cut her off briskly. "Miss Huang, it's late. Go back and get some rest. Don't leave Old Man Huang waiting around the hallway corner for too long, or he might catch a chill."

"One more thing." Luo He spoke up. "Please tell Old Man Huang not to worry. I'm here for work, and unless I receive an order from the gentleman, I will never abandon you. Not unless I'm dead."
