The servant's call drew quite a crowd.
The manor's maids and servants came pouring out. Some longtime servants of Lin Manor recognized the two and bowed. "Young miss, Young Hero Bufan, you're back!"
"You've changed so much in these few years. We almost didn't recognize you."
One particularly quick-witted servant turned and ran, shouting as he went, "Hurry and tell the third young master and Madam! The young miss is back!" Another servant heard him and immediately hurried deeper into the manor.
A man who looked like a steward stepped forward and said respectfully, "Young miss, this way, please. After Master moved here from the Prefectural City, he specifically set aside a courtyard with the same layout and furnishings as your Luoxue Pavilion in Yingtian Prefecture."
"Master gave explicit instructions. He said you were used to living there and might find a new place uncomfortable."
Lin Zhiyan nodded slightly. "Thank you for the trouble. Lead the way."
The steward led the way, and Lin Zhiyan went with Li Bufan. They crossed the front courtyard, rounded the spirit screen, and followed the covered walkway inward.
Along the way, pavilions and towers stood amid rock gardens, flowing water, and lush flowers and trees, making for a delightful scene.
Lin Manor occupied an enormous area, several times larger than their residence in Yingtian Prefecture. Li Bufan looked around as he walked, a trace of nostalgia rising in his eyes at the familiar arrangements.
Soon, the two arrived at Luoxue Pavilion.
The courtyard was small but clean and elegant, with blue stone paving, white walls, and dark roof tiles that lent it something of a scholar's air. It was indeed almost identical to Luoxue Pavilion in Yingtian Prefecture.
They found a place to sit. Not long after they had settled down, a youth who
