Background / History

Elwin was born in Shire Town, a remote walled settlement beyond the West Border Wall. As a nine-year-old, he had flaxen hair and lived in a close-knit community whose residents relied on mutual trust and cooperation to survive magical-beast attacks. His childhood wish was to see the sea. 101

Eight years before the pioneering expedition, Shire Town was destroyed during a winter disaster officially attributed to a strange plague. Elwin was the only survivor found among the bodies; his hair had turned white, he was near death, and he retained only fragmented memories of the event. He was subsequently sent to a Holy Light Church orphanage, where his exceptional talent led him to become a formal priest. 88
