"That is Netherworld Cat, one of my pets," Fatima said softly.
"Netherworld Cat?"
"Yes." As Fatima spoke, she raised her right hand, and a black phantom appeared. A black cat now rested upon her arm.
She stroked the fur that seemed woven from the night itself. "Ancient legends say that Netherworld Cats were not born in this world, but are spiritual creatures that wander between the cracks of life and death. They can walk between the two realms of Yin and Yang. What their eyes see is not fleshly forms, but the true nature of souls and the flowing light of life."
Chen Xia saw that the Netherworld Cat's eyes were a deep violet, glimmering faintly in the darkness like ripples on the River Styx.
Wherever its paws passed, a faint shadow briefly condensed over the ground.
"No one knows the limits of a Netherworld Cat's lifespan. It seems never to age. This cat's greatest abilities are devouring ghosts, sensing danger, and living forever. It has accompanied me for many years. Ten thousand years ago, I found it outside a crack in the teleportation array of an ancient ruin."
Chen Xia fell into thought. It was his first time seeing such a miraculous creature. The cat did not seem corporeal, yet it was truly flesh and blood.
Since it was a Netherworld Cat, it might have come from the Netherworld.
So this world held so many strange Exotic Beasts. Chen Xia simply had not encountered many of them.
Chen Xia reached out with his right hand and touched the cat. The Netherworld Cat narrowed its eyes slightly and bared its claws and fangs. Fatima soothed it verbally and told it that he was her master. Only then did the Netherworld Cat become much friendlier.
Next, Chen Xia asked Fatima some
