Chapter Summaries

Xi Yan and the others discussed Blackbeard’s growing power, his possible bid for the vacant Four Emperors position, and Fish-Man Island’s protection under the Big Mom Pirates. Xi Yan also explained that he was seeking Devil Fruits to strengthen his companions against the World Government.

• Shakky explained that former Blackbeard Pirates rejoined him after he obtained the Tremor-Tremor Fruit and helped him fight the Whitebeard Pirates.
• Xi Yan and the others speculated that Blackbeard might soon make a move for the vacant Four Emperors position, while Luffy said Ace should handle him.
• Shakky revealed that Fish-Man Island flew the Big Mom Pirates’ flag, and Xi Yan explained that their protection helped keep its people safe from slave traders.
• Xi Yan told the group that he was looking for Devil Fruits for his companions so they could grow stronger before the World Government came after them.

Xi Yan learned about the remaining Devil Fruits and the newly appointed Shichibukai, including Buggy, Edward Weevil, and Trafalgar Law. He also discovered that the Supernova who fought Katakuri had been executed by Akainu, leaving the Magnet-Magnet Fruit’s whereabouts unknown.

• Xi Yan showed Perona, Nami, Luffy, and Rayleigh the three Devil Fruits he had saved for Usopp and the others, but Rayleigh could not identify their abilities.
• Shakky told Xi Yan that Buggy had become a Shichibukai because of his reputation, connection to Shanks, and escaped prisoners; Xi Yan and Luffy decided not to seek him out.
• Shakky revealed that Edward Weevil had become a Shichibukai and had attacked Whitebeard’s territory at his mother Miss Bakkin’s command while claiming to be Whitebeard’s son.
• Shakky explained that Trafalgar Law earned the Shichibukai title by handing the Marines the hearts of one hundred pirates after the Rocky Port incident.
• Xi Yan learned that the Supernova who had fought Katakuri was executed by Marine Admiral Akainu two years earlier, and Shakky said she had no information about his Magnet-Magnet Fruit.

Chopper reunited with Usopp after mistaking impostors for the Straw Hat crew, and Usopp revealed that Xi Yan was alive and that Luffy would arrive with him. Usopp demonstrated his Baiteng Fruit ability, while Zoro and Merry returned from a disastrous trip aboard the wrong pirate ship and Sanji picked a fight with Zoro.

• Chopper met fake Luffy and the other impostors, who refused to help the fake Robin and treated Chopper as a stuffed toy; Chopper ran off to rescue her alone.
• A Marine identified the impostors as the Straw Hat Pirates and ordered a force to surround them, but dismissed Chopper as a pet with a bounty of 50 berries.

• Shakky said that the Supernova Bony had been searching for Luffy and Xi Yan, and suggested she might be after their heads.
• Shakky revealed that a Supernova had married Big Mom's daughter Charlotte Chiffon, whom Nami recognized as Lola's twin sister; Xi Yan explained that he had met Big Mom's children when Camie was taken.

• Shakky told Xi Yan that Akainu survived the Marineford War and became Fleet Admiral after defeating Aokiji in a ten-day fight that cost Aokiji his left leg.
• Shakky said Aokiji left the Marines and that Issho, codenamed Fujitora, and Araki, codenamed Ryokugyu, joined as Admirals through the World Military Draft.

• Nico Robin met Usopp and Chopper outside Shakky's Rip-off Bar, and they went inside to join the others.

Xi Yan learned from Nico Robin that Kuma remained unconscious despite two years of treatment and promised the Straw Hat Pirates would help if needed. Usopp revealed he had eaten the More-More Fruit, whose previous owner was Bundy Wald, and learned from Rayleigh that it could amplify his own strength and speed.

• Nico Robin told Xi Yan that Kuma was still unconscious and that Lindbergh was trying another way to awaken him before they considered contacting Vegapunk.
• Xi Yan explained that Kuma had saved the Straw Hat Pirates at Sabaody, and he assured Chopper that Kuma could be cured.
• Xi Yan offered Usopp one of the Devil Fruits, but Usopp said he had already eaten the Baiteng Fruit.
• Shakky revealed that Usopp's fruit was actually the More-More Fruit, formerly wielded by Bundy Wald, the World Destroyer.

• Xi Yan and the crew discussed the Devil Fruits and learned that Demaro Black’s group was impersonating the Straw Hat Pirates, deciding to let the impostors distract the Marines.

• Chopper detected Zoro, Sanji, and Merry, and the reunited crew agreed to return to the ship and wait for Brook.
• Luffy welcomed Perona into the crew, while Nami stopped Zoro and Sanji from fighting.
• Sentomaru discovered the real Straw Hat Pirates and led Marines and Pacifistas to intercept them.

• Smoker told Sakazuki that a Commodore had abused civilians and colluded with pirates, and Sakazuki ordered the guilty Marines executed.
• Sakazuki and Smoker discussed the Straw Hat Pirates’ new members, including the Moku Moku no Mi user and Perona, before Sakazuki assigned Smoker to command the G5 Branch.

• Brook told the crew legends about monsters in deep currents, and Perona made Zoro promise to catch one for her if they found any.
• Sanji recovered from another illusion without a nosebleed, and Xi Yan kept the details of his treatment secret.
• Nico Robin noticed that the current had changed, and the crew gathered to see a waterfall-like Descending ocean current at least a thousand meters wide.

Xi Yan discovered the Kraken beneath the underwater waterfall and gave Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji resin-enhanced Water Release membranes so they could fight it underwater. After they defeated the beast, a powerful current swept the three away, so Xi Yan sent clones to search for them and guided the Thousand Sunny safely down the current with a Water Dragon.

• Xi Yan spotted a gigantic octopus clutching shipwrecks, and it emerged as the Kraken and attacked the Thousand Sunny.
• Xi Yan used Water Release to repel the Kraken, then enchanted Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji with membranes that let them breathe and move underwater.
• Sanji burned and kicked a tentacle, Zoro severed another, and Luffy defeated the Kraken with a Gear Third punch.
• A powerful current swept Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji into the abyss before they could return to the ship.

The Thousand Sunny searched the deep sea for Luffy and the others while Xi Yan demonstrated his immortality and the crew encountered dangerous sea creatures. After Perona subdued a Lantern Fish, an even larger creature appeared before the ship.

• Xi Yan explained that his Shadow Clone had been destroyed by a black shadow, while his Wood Clone had pursued Luffy and the others with a Permanent Log Pointer to Fish-Man Island.
• The crew followed the current toward Fish-Man Island, used Franky's chest light and the ship's searchlight to search for their missing crewmates, and escaped a school of enormous fish.
• Xi Yan touched a poisonous jellyfish tentacle to show Chopper its venom, then revealed that his immortal body had made his apparent death a trick.
• The crew approached smoking Underwater Volcanoes and hurried onward as Nami warned that they might erupt.
• A Lantern Fish charged at the Thousand Sunny, but Perona's Negative Ghost made it sink away in despair.
• An enormous creature, far larger than the Lantern Fish, appeared in front of the Thousand Sunny.

The Thousand Sunny encountered a Ghost Ship and Vander Decken’s crew as an Underwater Volcano threatened to erupt. Xi Yan used his Water Release to carry the ship and Kraken toward the trench leading to Fish-Man Island, while Luffy and Perona hoped to meet ghosts again.

• Ryūgū struck the Lantern Fish for trying to eat the Thousand Sunny, while Brook identified the approaching ship as Vander Decken’s centuries-old Ghost Ship.
• Vander Decken ordered Ryūgū to sink the Thousand Sunny, but Kraken arrived with Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji aboard and beat Ryūgū back.
• Nami warned that the Underwater Volcanoes were about to erupt, so Perona stopped Zoro and Sanji’s fight and Luffy had Kraken carry the Thousand Sunny away.
• The volcano erupted behind them as the Ghost Ship fled, and Nami pointed out the trench leading toward Fish-Man Island.
• Xi Yan summoned the Water Dragon with his Water Release—Super Water Dragon Bullet Technique and carried Kraken and the Thousand Sunny quickly toward the trench.
