After asking for directions, Alicia drove the carriage toward the Adventurer's Guild branch in the small town.

Because the streets were relatively narrow, the carriage moved very slowly. They often had to figure out how to back out and find another route whenever a street was impassable.

In short, driving a carriage in this town was an awful experience.

There were no proper roads in the town either. They were all paths worn down by people, barely qualifying as half-finished rammed-earth roads.

In the carriage, Old Witch suddenly brought up the Divination Technique.

"Your Highness, do you know that every wizard and witch has to learn the Divination Technique?"

Yveta shook his head. "I don't. Why?"

"Because it's one of the three requirements for advancing to a Formal Witch or Formal Wizard." Old Witch cackled. She actually didn't know many divination techniques, and most of the ones she did know were beyond what ordinary people could accept. The person truly skilled in divination was her disciple.

Her disciple's divination skills were so powerful that she had even managed to hook a viscount with them!

The reason she had brought up divination was merely that she wanted Yveta to hurry to Ambrose.

Yveta's gaze sharpened.

So Wizard Apprentices needed to learn the Divination Technique to become Formal Wizards?

That reminded him of how the old Taoists on the mountains in his previous life all seemed to know a little fortune-telling.

Old Witch cackled. "An ordinary Wizard Apprentice or Witch Apprentice might have to work for me for free for twenty or thirty years before they could possibly learn this information."

"And that's assuming I'm in a good mood that day."

"If I'm in an exceptionally bad mood, I might even add some false information to mislead them."

Old Witch suddenly remembered something and gave an eerie smile. "I once told a female apprentice who had displeased me that, if she wanted to become a Formal Witch, she had to swallow ten thousand loaches alive. That idiot actually believed me. It wasn't until she had swallowed more than three thousand loaches four months later that she realized something was wrong."

"But in the end, she was only a Witch Apprentice, because I forgot to tell her that advancing to Formal Witch required learning the Divination Technique."

Black Wolf and Leili simultaneously moved a little farther away from her.

They somewhat regretted it. They should have taken two carriages. They and the witch truly seemed to belong to different worlds.

Yveta coughed, his tone growing slightly stern. "So why is the Divination Technique the key to advancing to Formal Wizard?"

"Remember, don't add any unnecessary or useless information."

Hearthstone Great Witch realized she had gotten carried away. "Yes, Your Grace. I swear on my professional reputation that I absolutely will not deceive you."

"The reason one needs to practice the Divination Technique is that advancing to Formal Wizard requires progress and change in the soul."

"The Divination Technique can cause a Wizard Apprentice's soul to produce a unique Gnostic Mist."

"Even gods and you do not possess the soul structure of this special Gnostic Mist. So it's normal that you don't know about it."

Yveta nodded, half understanding. "Then what divination methods do you know?"

Old Witch said, "I don't know many divination methods. When I studied with my teacher back then, I didn't take learning divination methods very seriously."

"Because even divination spells at the Great Witch level still can't accurately predict the outcome of events. Their accuracy is only thirty percent."

"And that's only the ideal result without outside interference. The time and location of the divination, the diviner's identity, and the place where it's performed will all affect its accuracy."

"Divination is something like metaphysics, I suppose. Do you understand?"

"Sometimes, when a person is in a good mood, the divination result is more accurate. That's why I didn't study it very seriously back then."

"Oh, right. If divination really worked, the result I got back then clearly said I would succeed. Who could have expected you to appear at that manor?"

"Mirror Divination Method."

"But my disciple really likes this field. I heard she has collected at least dozens of divination spells. She even delayed her magical cultivation because of it."

Yveta ignored the eager look in Old Witch's eyes, which clearly said, Let's go find my disciple.

Although he had no idea what Old Witch was plotting, there was no need for him to let her lead him to Ambrose right away.

"Introduce me to the three divination methods you know," Yveta said. "Since I have a resource like you right beside me, there's no need to look farther afield."

"It's fine if there are fewer options."

"I only need to learn one anyway."

Old Witch's expression changed slightly. She quickly restored her smile, but she was clearly unhappy. "Your Grace, Viscera Divination uses the internal organs of animals to perform divination. This method can determine whether the outcome of something will be good or bad. It's suitable for warfare or dealing with mortal enemies, but it isn't very useful for divining about trivial domestic matters, wealth, or luck."

"Toad Divination uses toads for divination and is best suited for finding directions. If you want to search for treasure, you might consider learning it. It's just that toads are rather disgusting."

"Mirror Divination Method involves trapping a ghost inside a mirror and using Black Magic to grant it extensive knowledge before conducting divination. This method is the most comprehensive, but because it can be used for anything, it often gives many incorrect answers."

"Some of those incorrect answers might even lead you to your death. Basically, no witch will choose this magic."

Yveta was about to speak when the carriage suddenly stopped. The maid Alicia said, "My lords, there's a brawl ahead."

"We'll have to go around it."

Suddenly, the roof of the carriage was smashed open, and a blood-covered man fell inside.

There were spectators outside talking as well.

"Is that really necessary? It's just a minor matter."

A crow landed on the carriage. One of its eyes was black, while the other was blood-red.

That blood-red eye stared fixedly at Yveta.

Then it flapped its wings and flew away.

Leili and Black Wolf had already drawn their swords, because they thought the disturbance might have been caused by the Little Brotherhood of Faith or the Boar Knight Order.
