With several people holding the line, Silvia finally broke free of the swarm of rats.

However, she had only escaped for the moment. All around them, countless rat monsters were scrambling out of the soil.

Most of the rat monsters were low-level creatures equivalent to human Warrior Level fighters, but there were simply too many of them. A swarm of ants could kill an elephant, and enough Warriors could kill a War God!

And the fact that most of them were Warrior Level didn't mean they all were. Mixed in among the beasts was a considerable number of Beast General level monsters. There even seemed to be a golden rat moving among the swarm.

Even if that rat wasn't a Lord level monster, it couldn't be far off!

Now, faced with this endless sea of rats, the two sides who had just been at odds stood pressed close together.

"None of us can get out on our own. Even if you can fly, it'll be hard to escape. We'll only have a chance if we work together!" the War God said to Silvia, frantically cutting down the rats lunging at them from every direction.

"Okay!"

Silvia nodded. She admitted it was true. Even though she was a Mental Master who could fly, she was still on the ground. Without anyone to hold back these terrifying numbers of rats, the monsters would likely overwhelm her before she could reach the sky.

"Good. Looks like we've reached an understanding! Put your differences aside for now, while we deal with the monsters!" The War God felt a little relieved.

"But all eight of us are at least General level fighters, and with your weapons, our combined weight must be over ten tons. My Mental Energy can't lift all of you at once!" Silvia started to say, but the rats suddenly surged. A vast sea of them rushed toward the group like a wave.

"Fuck, get your shields under your feet!" Silvia shouted, not bothering with anything else.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

They all moved swiftly, and Jiang Mingyue silently did as she was told. As she fought desperately to hold back the tide of rats, she also edged closer to Silvia without drawing attention.

She made up her mind: if Silvia tried to leave her behind, she would rush over and cling to Silvia's leg, and never let go, even if she died.

A Mental Master at High-level Beast General level had a basic Mental Energy strength of over thirty tons. It shouldn't have been difficult for Silvia to carry eight people into the air.

Besides, Silvia hadn't given up on Jiang Mingyue yet. Partly, she was mindful of the War God, and partly, she wasn't that heartless. In the face of monsters, she still cared about the bonds between people.

Boom!

The eight shot into the sky, but they had barely risen two or three meters when countless rats leaped up, frantically trying to drag them back down.

With fewer footholds in the air, even the War God was hampered by the horde. Jiang Mingyue, however, seemed much more at ease, thanks to her Perfect level footwork. Her spear whirled fiercely, and in no time she had stabbed or smashed countless monsters out of the air.

"Something's pulling on the shields! Get them off!" Silvia's face was flushed with the strain, but the group was still rising at a snail's pace.

"It's a bunch of rats!" Jiang Mingyue and the War God reacted quickly, swinging their weapons to sweep the rats off the undersides of the shields. But more and more rats kept surging up in wave after wave. No matter how frantically they fought, they barely made a difference.

"We're dead if this keeps up!"

Jiang Mingyue quickly surveyed their surroundings. Suddenly, she reached behind one of Silvia's teammates and threw the greatsword strapped to his back overboard.

"What the hell are you doing?" The man got worked up and burst into an angry rant in his native language.

"That sword alone weighs five hundred pounds, and you can't even use it! Are you trying to get us killed?" Jiang Mingyue scolded him indignantly. Then, seizing another opportunity, she threw away the extra weapon strapped to someone else's back.

"Fuck!"

The others cursed. They were all furious at Jiang Mingyue's shamelessness. She had extra weapons herself, yet instead of throwing those away, she was getting rid of theirs.

But Jiang Mingyue was far more agile in the air, thanks to her Perfect level footwork. They couldn't give her a taste of her own medicine, even if they wanted to!

Still, Jiang Mingyue's actions really did ease the pressure on Silvia. The group began rising faster.

"Good job!" the War God praised her, then promptly threw away his own spare weapons.

"..."

Jiang Mingyue said nothing. She felt the extra sword strapped to her back, then put off throwing it away for the time being.

At this rate, we have a chance of getting out. Besides, this sword isn't heavy. Jiang Mingyue muttered to herself. But just as things seemed to be improving, another crisis struck.

A golden rat leaped out of the swarm and landed on the shield of one of Silvia's teammates.

Whoosh!

The golden rat used the shield as a foothold and sprang toward Silvia.

It was incredibly fast—much faster than the War God. No one reacted in time. Even Silvia didn't notice it until the rat was just about to reach her head.

But by then, it was too late!

At the critical moment—

Boom!

A muffled clap of thunder suddenly rang out. The people standing on the shields in the air felt their vision go dark, and their ears rang.

"What was that?" The War God was the first to recover his sight. He immediately spotted the golden rat still near Silvia.

No, it was a black rat!

A breeze blew past, and the rat crumbled into countless specks of ash and vanished.

"What happened?"

The others came to their senses, still dazed. Only Silvia slowly realized that someone had saved her. The way they had done it was astonishing, but that didn't matter.

"Lightning?"

Silvia furrowed her brow. She remembered the strange incident in Base City No. 003. Two of her teammates had gone after Jiang Yueming, only to be stopped by two bolts of lightning from the sky.

But before Silvia could think any further, the sky above them suddenly darkened.

Winds howled, and dark clouds gathered!

The clouds should have been black, but now they seemed to glow white. Countless flashes of lightning flickered inside them.

"What's happening?"

The sudden change in the heavens and earth left everyone, War Gods and General level fighters alike, stunned. A terrifying pressure weighed on their hearts, and under it, there was no difference between a War God and a General level fighter.

"Look!"

Jiang Mingyue suddenly pointed into the distance.

The ground there had been covered by a dense swarm of rats. Now, one tornado after another appeared out of nowhere, sweeping countless monsters into the air.

Bolts of lightning kept striking down from the sky, turning every rat caught in the air to ash.

Some of the ash even landed on Jiang Mingyue and the others as they watched.

But no one paid it any mind.

The scene was terrifying, shocking, and unbelievable!

"What is this?" Silvia asked, unable to believe her eyes.

"I don't know!" The War God shook his head, then continued, "Whatever it is, we're saved. Let's get down first. I don't think the lightning will hit us, but standing under such a huge mass of clouds still makes me uneasy!"

"Okay!" Everyone nodded.

Though that violent attack hadn't killed every rat monster, it had wiped out more than half of them. The remaining rats had lost all their earlier fearlessness and were now shrieking as they fled underground.

Now that they stood in the somewhat empty wasteland, Silvia and her group and Jiang Mingyue were briefly at a loss for words.

Still, they had been through life and death together, so the tension between them had eased somewhat.

"With all that lightning, could our Lightning Martial Arts Hall's Head Curator have made a move?" one of Silvia's teammates suddenly asked, letting his imagination run wild.

He was a member of the Lightning Martial Arts Hall and had been with it for over ten years. All that time, he had worshipped its Head Curator, Thor, as if he were a god. So it wasn't strange that the thought had crossed his mind.

"Thor may be the second-strongest person in the world, but I doubt he has that kind of power!" the War God immediately replied. As a War God, he knew something about the abilities of those Beyond War God level. If Thor could do something like that, the monsters on Earth would have been wiped out long ago!

Even King Level Monsters would have been nothing under an attack on that scale.

The rat tide had covered such a vast area that even he couldn't see its end. That showed just how many there were. Yet the entire horde had been sent packing.

In short, it was impossible to describe!

"Maybe it's a secret weapon developed by Huaxia Country, like the legendary Weather Weapon!" Jiang Mingyue guessed.

"A Weather Weapon..." The others nodded. It sounded far-fetched, but after what they had just seen, it wasn't impossible.

"How could that be?" Silvia thought, shaking her head. She was certain someone had saved her just now. The precision of that attack couldn't be explained by a Weather Weapon.

"..."

They discussed it for a while, then lost interest. Whatever had happened, it was probably beyond their ability to influence. All they could do was report it.

"Jiang Yueming, you got lucky this time. Don't let us catch you again!" Silvia threatened, then led her teammates away.

"Take care of yourself!" The War God glanced at Jiang Mingyue, then left as well.

The War God had no fondness for Jiang Mingyue now, either. Back in the air, she had thrown away everyone else's spare weapons but kept her own. As an honorable man, he found that hard to stomach.

So even though they were both Warriors of Huaxia Country, the War God no longer felt like speaking with Jiang Mingyue.

"..."

Jiang Mingyue said nothing. She straightened her gear and clothes, then silently followed in the direction Silvia and the others had gone.
