Bounty

Over the next two days, Luo Feng went to ask Wang Cheng for advice twice more. Then he joined his Fire Hammer Squad teammates again and headed for the Wilderness Area.

Wang Cheng didn't care that Luo Feng had left. After he was gone, Wang Cheng continued his regular cultivation routine.

Before long, Wang Cheng had spent another month cultivating in peace.

One morning, Wang Cheng Main Body was lounging on the sofa, watching a morning program. Suddenly, the show switched to the news, and the report was a rather unusual bounty notice.

"A thousand billion for the person who killed their son?" Wang Cheng watched the couple appear on the news. The husband looked gloomy, while the wife was dressed in obvious finery.

"The Li Yao couple!" Wang Cheng recognized them.

To ordinary people, the Li Yao couple were Big Figures in their own right. With a sky-high bounty like that, the entire Huaxia Country was bound to be in an uproar for a while.

Still, it had nothing to do with Wang Cheng—even though he knew there was a ninety percent chance Luo Feng had done it!

As Wang Cheng was thinking about this, a cold laugh suddenly came from behind him.

"What? Do you have something to say?" Wang Cheng glanced at Jiang Mingyue, who was mopping the floor behind him. She had clearly noticed the news, too.

"I just think it's ridiculous to use a nationwide news broadcast to report something like this. Don't you agree, Brother Cheng?" Jiang Mingyue asked.

"It is a little ridiculous, but the Li Yao couple have power and influence. It's not that surprising," Wang Cheng said lazily.

Jiang Mingyue said nothing more and simply kept mopping.

"Do you have a grudge against them?" Wang Cheng asked, puzzled.

"Not much of one. But if I get the chance, I wouldn't mind killing them." Jiang Mingyue didn't bother hiding her feelings, and Wang Cheng believed she wasn't joking.

Jiang Mingyue was ruthless. Just look at Silvia's team: all because they'd taken a Shadow Wolf corpse from her, she'd stirred up a beast horde to get revenge.

A beast horde wasn't something just anyone could provoke. One wrong move, and she could easily get caught up in it herself.

A while later, Jiang Mingyue finished tidying the house. She turned around and brought Wang Cheng tea, massaged his legs, and kneaded his shoulders, all with the air of someone who'd gotten quite used to it.

Jiang Mingyue really was impressively conscientious. For the past month, she'd followed Wang Cheng's instructions without cutting corners. Even though he'd initially planned to be stricter with her, he couldn't find anything to fault her for now.

While Wang Cheng was idly passing the time, the phone in his villa suddenly rang.

Wang Cheng didn't move. By then, Jiang Mingyue had already brought him the phone without being asked.

"Hello?"

Wang Cheng answered, puzzled. He'd cut off most of his social ties lately, keeping only a handful. Who would be calling him now?

"Hello, War God Wang Cheng. It's me!"

A familiar voice came through the receiver. The speaker had put particular emphasis on the words "War God," and Wang Cheng immediately recognized who was calling.

He glanced at Jiang Mingyue, who had gone back to her work, then smiled. "Silvia, I haven't heard your voice in a long time!"

"You never contact me first. How else would you hear it?" Silvia asked.

"I didn't want to bother you. I know Warriors are always busy!" Wang Cheng replied with a smile.

"..."

After exchanging pleasantries for a while, Silvia quickly got to the real reason for her call.

She was planning to visit Huaxia and wanted to see Wang Cheng in person to repay him for saving her life last time.

Wang Cheng had no objection, but he still asked, "What made you decide to come to Huaxia all of a sudden?"

"You know about the thousand-billion bounty the Li Yao couple put up for the person who killed their son, right? I'm going to try my luck. If I find even a single clue, I'll be rich!" Silvia said, leaving Wang Cheng a little surprised.

"Last time, I offered you treasures worth far more than a thousand billion, and you weren't tempted. What made you change your mind now?" Wang Cheng asked.

"That was different!" Silvia answered without hesitation. She clearly didn't regret her choice.

"Fine. Where should we meet?" Wang Cheng didn't press the matter.

"Where are you living now? I'll come find you," Silvia said.

"Uh, I'm at..." Wang Cheng glanced over at Jiang Mingyue. In the end, he gave Silvia his address.

Jiang Mingyue used to go by the alias Jiang Yueming, and she'd made herself look completely different from her current appearance. Silvia shouldn't recognize her.

"That sounds rather ordinary. It doesn't suit your status," Silvia remarked in surprise. Still, she soon agreed to come, saying she'd arrive around dusk.

"Tsk!"

Wang Cheng shook his head, then called Jiang Mingyue over and told her Silvia was coming. To his surprise, Jiang Mingyue didn't react much.

"Don't worry, Brother Cheng. Jiang Yueming is the one she has a grudge against. I won't ruin your plans," Jiang Mingyue said knowingly.

"You seem to know a lot about this," Wang Cheng said, a little surprised.

"More or less. I've seen plenty." Jiang Mingyue nodded, then asked curiously, "But are Alien Humans and Earthlings reproductively incompatible?"

"How would I know?" Wang Cheng said, at a loss for words. Then he added, "Go get things ready. Silvia's coming from far away, so we should give her a proper welcome tonight."

"Okay!"

Jiang Mingyue nodded, then hurried off to the kitchen to get busy.

Jiang Mingyue was an excellent cook. In the past, whenever Wang Cheng wanted something to eat, he'd call a big restaurant and have them deliver it. Now, though, Jiang Mingyue did nearly all the cooking. He had no idea where a High-level War General like her had learned such impressive culinary skills.

Jiang Mingyue kept busy from morning until dusk. By then, Silvia had arrived outside Mingyue Community. After she called, Wang Cheng sent Jiang Mingyue out to bring her in.

Silvia thought Wang Cheng's place was rather ordinary, but at least it was in Warrior Community, where strangers had a hard time getting in. Residents had to vouch for any outsiders they brought inside!

Of course, those were minor concerns. What really put Wang Cheng at ease was that Jiang Mingyue and Silvia were chatting and laughing as Jiang Mingyue escorted her in. Silvia hadn't recognized that Jiang Mingyue was the enemy she'd come to find: Jiang Yueming!

Jiang Mingyue was a good actress, and she had nerves of steel.

When she saw Wang Cheng, Silvia hugged him, then whispered in his ear, "Your maid is great. She's got a lovely presence, a great figure, and she's beautiful, too. No wonder you never contact me!"

"You've got the wrong idea," Wang Cheng said with a helpless smile. He wasn't that kind of person.

Wang Cheng didn't know what Silvia thought, but she didn't bring it up again.

The somewhat restless night soon passed. The next day, Silvia left Mingyue Community on her own, as if nothing had happened.

Seeing Wang Cheng had only been a side trip on her visit to Huaxia. Investigating who had killed the Li Yao couple's son was Silvia's main purpose, so naturally, she didn't stay long.
