Before a World-Ending Calamity, even Bai Xiaowen, whose attributes had all surpassed 200 and who was practically superhuman, felt powerless.
He had once watched a movie where Buddha manifested and pressed down with a single palm. Monkey Head looked up and could see nothing but endless... palm lines, with no path of escape whatsoever. That was exactly how Bai Xiaowen felt now.
Still, Bai Xiaowen had the strength to struggle.
Shape Shift! Shape Shift! Shape Shift!
He fled into the Starry Sky!
Each use of Shape Shift sent Bai Xiaowen "teleporting" several thousand meters.
But a few thousand meters was still far too insignificant before the collision of two planets. Bai Xiaowen's efforts were like an ant desperately crawling before two palms closed together, trying to avoid the palm print.
Fortunately, Shape Shift had virtually no Cooldown Time. It merely placed an increasingly heavy burden on his body and Spiritual Power with each successive use.
After using it more than a dozen times in a row, Bai Xiaowen had already shot upward over a hundred kilometers.
But it was nowhere near enough!
A powerful pulling force came from behind him.
This was because, after the initial top-down hurricane at the point where the two planets collided, a vast vacuum zone had formed, causing Nether Energy from every direction to flow back toward it.
The returning Nether Energy was like an invisible giant hand, dragging Bai Xiaowen toward that devastating impact point.
It was not only Bai Xiaowen. Countless clumps of earth and rock, white bones, and grains of sand around him were all being swept backward at astonishing speed.
Yet flying on the Star of Death Omen was extraordinarily difficult. To maintain forward flight in the void, Bai Xiaowen would have to burn an enormous amount of Spiritual Power.
It was better to abandon flying under his own power and continuously use the Shape Shift Dao Technique, using spatial displacement to flee outward.
After the planets collide, there will be a massive explosion, and the two stars will merge into one... The key is to avoid the brunt of the explosion. Even if I'm affected to some extent, I can still save myself as long as my injuries aren't too severe.
Bai Xiaowen knew very well that what he feared most was losing consciousness from the violent explosion. Drifting unconsciously through the Starry Sky would be far too dangerous.
Losing his sense of direction during Space Travel was indeed terrifying, but it was not Bai Xiaowen's greatest concern. After all, he had the Titan Star Chart to pinpoint his location, and the Best Star Path his father, Bai Yuantang, had given him. Once he located himself, he could return to the proper route.
However, there were quite a few enemies near the Star of Death Omen's starfield who were eyeing Bai Xiaowen covetously. If Bai Xiaowen fell unconscious, would he not be at their mercy?
Bai Xiaowen desperately fled outward because he wanted to escape the area where the explosion would be most violent.
A flash of white light appeared, and a figure materialized at Bai Xiaowen's side.
It was Qiao Liqun.
"Come with me." Qiao Liqun grabbed Bai Xiaowen's arm with one hand, then slashed through the air. A pitch-black Space Rift took shape.
Bai Xiaowen was somewhat surprised. Qiao Liqun's use of space was even more sophisticated than the Space Laws Xia Feng had comprehended.
Even Xia Feng could not perform Space Travel while carrying another person.
The two figures entered the Space Rift, which then silently closed behind them.
More than ten seconds later, a violent blast wave engulfed the region.
Led by Qiao Liqun, Bai Xiaowen traveled through the crevices of space.
Time seemed to have slowed. When the passage ended, the two appeared in a stretch of void.
From this position, they could still see the spectacular sight of the Star of Death Omen colliding with another massive star.
It resembled an enormous firework.
Watching the firework, Bai Xiaowen gave Qiao Liqun a slight nod.
"Thank you."
Qiao Liqun returned his smile. "It was my duty."
"Where is the Queen Bee?" Bai Xiaowen asked again.
"When you successfully infiltrated Death God Castle, she had already left the Star of Death Omen. So you need not worry about her safety," Qiao Liqun said.
"Does the Queen Bee's appearance represent the God of Fire's stance?" Bai Xiaowen asked. He remembered the Six Great Elects once saying that the God of Fire was a neutral deity.
Qiao Liqun nodded first, then gently shook his head with a smile. "The God of Fire's stance is no longer important. Once you successfully arrived at the Star of Death Omen, the vast majority of neutral deities saw the situation clearly. It was inevitable that they would shift their stance in our favor."
Bai Xiaowen understood. His arrival at the Star of Death Omen and his acquisition of the Death God Bones had been a critical move on the grand chessboard of the divine factions.
It could even be called the move that decided victory or defeat.
In the Land of Origin, where deities could not descend, once Bai Xiaowen became the Eighth Generation Death God, no one would be able to compete with him any longer.
Therefore, after that crucial piece had been placed, it was only natural for the deities who had previously remained on the sidelines to turn around and support the faction led by Bai Yuantang and the God of Truth.
"Let's leave this place," Bai Xiaowen said softly.
"You haven't become a god?" Qiao Liqun asked in confusion. "What are you still waiting for?"
Bai Xiaowen shook his head. "There's no need for now. If I want to become a god, I can do so at any time."
As he said this, Bai Xiaowen kept his eyes on Qiao Liqun, observing his reaction.
Qiao Liqun looked somewhat puzzled, but he did not press the matter. He merely shrugged. "All right, it's your choice. If it were me, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to resist."
After a pause, Qiao Liqun added, "Let's go to the Central Hub."
Bai Xiaowen nodded silently.
With Qiao Liqun accompanying him, their subsequent journey deeper into the Land of Origin became exceptionally easy.
Besides excelling at abilities that interfered with the mind, Qiao Liqun was also adept at spatial teleportation. Even if they encountered planet-destroying natural disasters, he could escape with ease.
After Bai Xiaowen obtained the final piece of Death God Bones, although he did not immediately choose to become a god, his ability to comprehend codices had already reached the quasi-divine level. With Qiao Liqun leading the way, he did not need to divide his attention for battle and instead focused on cultivating the two Profession Codices.
The journey lasted two months. The two set foot on one planet after another and passed through one layer of starfields after another.
"Your aura is becoming more and more terrifying." Qiao Liqun looked at Bai Xiaowen as though he were looking at towering mountains and a vast sea. Half-jokingly, he said, "You've already reached the peak of Evolutionists."
"I've only just advanced to Level 19."
Bai Xiaowen smiled.
Naturally, he was no ordinary Level 19. He was a Dual Class Level 19, and both Grand Duke's Art of War and the Classic of Supreme Emptiness had been comprehended to their peak.
Bai Xiaowen's Personal Panel had now become:
[Bai Xiaowen (Level 19)] [Race: Humanoid/Human Race] [Attributes: Strength 348, Agility 377, Constitution 366, Spirit 480] [True Yuan Power: 8100] [Death God's Power: 1000/1000]
It should be noted that when the Classic of Supreme Emptiness rose to Level 17, his Spirit attribute underwent another explosive increase. He also gained the ability of "Astral Projection," allowing his astral soul to leave his body during Meditation and roam thousands of miles.
Of course, his astral soul was still very weak. Apart from its Very High concealment, it had no other means of self-preservation. If it encountered a powerful expert capable of Insight into astral souls, it would be finished in minutes.
When the Classic of Supreme Emptiness rose to Level 18 and Level 19, the astral soul also received two enhancements, which would not be detailed further.
