Bai Xiaowen's question was a little basic.
But Chen Rong knew he had no formal training and was a self-taught cultivator. She wasn't surprised and explained in detail:
"Fellow Daoist Lu Wang, whether a demon's art can be learned depends on what kind of demon it is. The Tree Demon arose from an ancient pagoda tree. Its demonic power leans toward the wood element and is rich in life force, making it somewhat similar to the Origin Force we cultivators use. Of course we can learn its arts."
Bai Xiaowen understood what Chen Rong was implying.
The Tree Demon was a living demon, so Wood Incarnation could be learned. If it had been a demon made of negative energy, like the Spirit-Draining Ghost from before, cultivators would not have been able to learn its skills.
Chen Rong clearly thought little of Wood Incarnation. The incarnations themselves were weak, moved stiffly and slowly, and couldn't even use skills. They were little more than decorations.
Ordinary cultivators were careful about choosing Dao arts, preferring quality over quantity. Learning one took a great deal of time and energy. Rather than spread themselves too thin, they chose a few arts and studied them closely.
The worlds Evolvers entered were highly realistic, and most skills had virtually no cooldown. Mastering one move and relying on it everywhere was a perfectly viable approach. What good was knowing many skills if none were any good? Someone with one well-honed move could leave you severely injured and at their mercy.
Bai Xiaowen accepted the manual for the Wood Incarnation Demon Art anyway. His comprehension was exceptional, and he learned much faster than ordinary cultivators.
Wood Incarnation was weak in combat, but it had its strengths. It would surely prove useful in certain dangerous situations while exploring the Spirit
