Bai Xiaowen looked up through the gaps in the leaves at the sky and muttered:
"I need to find a Spirit Force Convergence Point on this planet. Time is limited. Finding one quickly and reaping the benefits comes first."
Kitz said, "Brilliant, boss! How do we find one?"
Bai Xiaowen said, "Normally, you sense areas where Spirit Force behaves unusually. Those are likely places to find a Spirit Force Convergence Point. But my Spirit Sense only reaches a dozen or so kilometers at most. This planet is even bigger than Earth. Trying to stumble across one that way would be nearly hopeless."
Kitz scratched his head. "Then how do other people find them? They can't all rely on luck..."
"Evolvers from long-established territories have probably accumulated special methods, like useful little tools. Unfortunately, the White Phoenix Fief doesn't have any of those."
After a pause, Bai Xiaowen continued, "Luckily, the professional manual I study contains knowledge for surveying the paths of ley lines. I can follow their course to locate where they converge nearby. That beats searching blindly."
Kitz slapped his palm. "Right! Need a ride, boss? I can fly you around! It'd make surveying the terrain much faster."
"I can already fly..."
The planet's gravity was twice Earth's, so flying would cost extra Spirit Force, but it was still possible.
Flying through the vastness of space and flying near a planet's surface were two different things.
In space, planetary gravity had almost no effect. An Evolver could hover without expending much Spirit Force. Only turning, stopping, and accelerating during flight required Spirit Force, and the cost was small.
Near a planet's surface, however, flight meant fighting gravity, air resistance, and a host of other forces. It cost far more than flying through space.
That was why most Evolvers only
