Bai Xiaowen immediately thought of his earlier fight with the Monster Serpent—which had actually been a gigantic Antakhean. He remembered the uncanny shield covering its body and the Psychic Spike Spell it had used afterward.
The Antakha Caretaker nodded. "Yes. Antakheans excel at tempering their mental power. With mental power as the foundation and Psionic Power as the substance, they can construct powerful Psychic Armor. It can dissolve the offensive energy carried by an opponent's attacks, or even absorb that energy for their own use..."
"That's incredible. I can understand Psychic Armor, but how does dissolving and absorbing an enemy's energy attacks work?" Bai Xiaowen asked.
"Every Spirit Force attack is controlled by the attacker's mental power," the Antakha Caretaker said. "Mental power is the commander; Spirit Force is the army. The essence of the Antakhe Mental Force Secret Art is to use techniques of the mind to defeat the enemy's 'commander.' Once that happens, their 'army' falls apart without a fight and can even be taken over by our side."
Bai Xiaowen nodded. "Would the Psychic Force Secret Art be less effective against someone with strong control over Spirit Force?"
"Yes, but it depends on just how strong their control is, and on your own mastery of psychic force," the Antakha Caretaker said. "The secret art has many levels. Each level greatly increases the density of your psychic force, making its effects much stronger."
Bai Xiaowen caught on at once. "If every Spirit Force attack is controlled by its user's mental power, then tempering my mental power through the Antakhe Mental Force Secret Art should also improve my control when I launch Spirit Force attacks, shouldn't it?"
