The Nether River was windless and waveless.
It was like a still ink-wash painting.
The raft crossed the Nether River without making a single sound on the water. Bai Xiaowen stood at the rear of the raft, watching it move, yet he saw no ripples at all.
The raft did not seem to be floating on the river. It was instead "flying" above its surface.
The Nether River was even wider than Bai Xiaowen had imagined.
The Faceless One ferryman kept pushing his long pole at an unhurried pace, and they traveled for three days and three nights.
It should be noted that the sky of Death Omen Star was blanketed in dark clouds. Neither sun, moon, nor stars could be seen. Everything overhead was gray and hazy, with only currents of Nether energy visible.
In such an environment, the alternation between day and night was nowhere near as distinct as on Earth. One could only vaguely judge that periods of brighter light counted as daytime, while dimmer periods counted as nighttime. The three days and three nights Bai Xiaowen sensed here were, in truth, three periods of darkness.
Since Death Omen Star was roughly the same diameter as Earth and rotated at a similar speed, the lengths of its days and nights were not too different either.
The ferryman and the ghostly passengers on the raft seemed to have no concept of time. Bai Xiaowen and Yeti, being highly cultivated Evolvers, could go three days and nights without food or water, though they were not in peak condition. After all, they had expended a small amount of Spirit Force to sustain their bodies.
On the fourth day, the raft reached the shore.
The Faceless One ferryman stood at the bow, leaning on his long pole.
The ghosts disembarked in
