The mage Catherine's face darkened.
"Fine... There's no point pretending anymore. Yes, I'm the one who sold the Human Alliance's intelligence to the Abyss Faction, from the Bonus Waters all the way to the Jagul Plateau!"
The human fighters around Catherine cautiously stepped back and surrounded her.
"Why?" the Camelot Queen asked softly. "You were my most trusted subordinate, the commander of the Camelot Royal Mage Corps. Why did you give in to the Snakefolk's temptation and betray your country and your people?"
"Why?" Catherine repeated with a cold laugh. "Your Majesty, sitting high above everyone else, how could you understand what it was like for an orphan who lost both parents to grow up wandering the streets?"
"You were a homeless orphan? Weren't you Master Morello's granddaughter?" the Camelot Queen asked, frowning.
"Hahahaha... Without that respectable identity, how could a commoner like me have entered Camelot's high society?" Catherine said coldly. "As for that lecherous old Morello, he only agreed to give me that identity in exchange for something sickening. Your naive Majesty, you have no idea how filthy human high society is. Or perhaps you do know, but you don't want to do anything about it—or can't!"
Catherine drew a deep breath and raised her voice. "When nobles oppressed my parents to death, they planted a seed of hatred in my heart. Every time Morello abused me, that seed took root and grew... until I saw that statue and finally heard the voice of the god who was meant for me."
"My god was right! Humanity is a depraved race, too corrupt to deserve a place on this earth! Only when this vile world sinks beneath the sea can its stains and crimes be washed away!"
