Background / History

At enrollment, Class B contains students with varied abilities. Its intake includes generally steady students as well as academically outstanding students whose other evaluation results warrant observation in a gentler environment. Yanagi places Shimiya Kuki there because he considers its relatively stable atmosphere—and Ichinose's inclusive influence—suited to Kuki's emotional recovery 1 2.

Ichinose becomes class president and handles notices, minor conflicts, and activities. Kanzaki Ryuji is recognized as a source of academic and strategic advice, while Kuki gradually moves from keeping his distance to contributing openly to class decisions 8 135.

Story Role / Major Arcs

• Class D incident — Ichinose chooses to help Class D investigate an incident she and Kuki suspect Class C arranged. Kuki later provides information and 30,000 Personal Points for Class D's evidence bluff 29 34.
• Deserted Island exam — Kuki reduces the class's proposed supply spending from 150 to 100 exam points. Class B establishes a well-equipped camp, activates strongholds, exchanges intelligence with Class D, and temporarily shelters Kaneda Satoru 47 51 54.
• Sports Festival — Despite its earlier cooperation with Class D, Class B joins Ryuen's Class C on the White Team. Kuki leads joint training and declares that Class B aims to finish first in its grade. Their coordinated mounted-warfare teams defeat opposing formations 101 103 105 119.
• Final Exams and promotion — The class elects to challenge Class A rather than take an easier opponent. Its victory promotes Ichinose's cohort to Class A and demotes Sakayanagi's cohort to Class B 135 142 145.
• Sakayanagi's Class B — At the Mixed Training Camp, its students concentrate strong members in a group and recruit selectively 189 190. Sakayanagi later commands the class against Ichinose's Class A in the Command Tower Exam; Class B wins the mathematics and Go events after losing English 262 282 283.
• Second-year competition — Sakayanagi's Class B enters a close Cross-Year Academic Ability Exam contest with Ryuen's Class C, separated by thirty Class Points at the exam's midpoint. For the Cross-Year Deserted Island Exam, Class B obtains an Additional Member Card through Rokkaku Momoe 407 457.
