November 14, 2001.
An earthquake struck the Kunlun Mountains, causing parts of the Kunlun Mountain Range to collapse.
On the side of the collapsed foothills, scale armor-like unknown substances of a Xuan Qing color were exposed, quickly drawing the attention of higher authorities.
Troops stationed nearby rapidly advanced into the Kunlun Mountains!
The Investigation Team braved the biting cold wind to survey this unknown substance.
On this day, it was heavily snowing.
"Hoo..."
A gust of wind blew past, sounding like a breath.
A person looked up at the stone wall, cautiously raising a hand to touch this Xuan Qing colored unknown substance.
"Director Qin, did you hear anything?"
He asked in a low voice.
"Hear something?"
Director Qin heard this, put down the instrument in his hand, and listened carefully.
The sound of breathing, mixed in the wind and snow, became more and more obvious.
"It sounds like... breathing?"
This breathing sound was very faint, almost inaudible.
It seemed...
To be coming from within this mountain!
Director Qin slowly raised his hand, pressing it against the Xuan Qing scale armor, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
"It seems to be moving..."
Just then, another team member on the side raised his Geological Hammer.
He swung it down between two pieces of scale armor!
A metallic collision sound rang out. The Xuan Qing scale armor that originally covered the entire surface suddenly retracted, then began to roll like a snake!
The earth rumbled loudly, and giant stones rolled down the Kunlun Mountain!
A massive Xuan Qing Jiao body appeared.
"Alive... alive!"
"Director Qin! It's alive!!"
The team members' voices were filled with terror as they stumbled backward. The one who had acted was tripped by a toolbox behind him and fell to the ground.
He looked up in disbelief at the dark green Jiao body that had appeared inside the mountain.
"Is that... a dragon?"
Chao Ge.
The Anti-Zhou Army had already broken through the city gates and was advancing towards Lu Tai.
King Shang, Di Xin, held a torch and walked alone with his sword.
Bloodstains remained on the sword tip.
He appeared crazed. Behind him, in the corridor, the eunuchs of Lu Tai lay in pools of blood, long silenced.
On the rooftop, a Green Clothed Girl sat, a Gourd hanging from her waist, swinging her feet.
"The Zhou Army has arrived, Zi Shou, aren't you going to run?"
Hearing this abrupt voice, a fierce glint flashed across Di Xin's expression.
He turned back, sword in hand.
"Presumptuous—"
But when he saw the Green Clothed Girl sitting on the rooftop, the fierceness in his eyes instantly vanished.
The latter half of his angry curse was swallowed.
Only astonishment remained in his eyes.
After a long while, he calmed down and sighed softly.
"I was wondering who was so bold as to dare call me by my name, but it turns out to be you, Mister."
Qing Nü jumped down from the rooftop, walking as she spoke, "Chao Ge City is now full of bold madmen who dare to call you by your name; I'm just one more."
She circled Di Xin once, tutting and shaking her head.
"Zi Shou, you've grown old."
"Yes, I've grown old, but you, Mister, are still the same as you were back then. Truly a True Immortal."
Di Xin looked at Qing Nü, his eyes complex.
He had only met Qing Nü once, when he ascended the throne.
At that time, he learned a secret of the royal family known only to each generation of Shang Kings.
A fear that had been passed down for over five hundred years!
Shao Dian Qing Nü!
A Banished Immortal of unknown origin, who had once helped Da Yi destroy Xia.
Rumor had it that she would take the lifeblood of the Last Shang King, and was the person every Shang King most feared encountering!
Successive Shang Kings had all sought answers from Heaven, but had never obtained any. Yet for hundreds of years, Qing Nü had never appeared, leading later Shang Kings to believe it was merely a legend passed down by the Great Ancestor to warn future generations.
But when he ascended the throne, Qing Nü came!
If you like this book, remember to add it to your bookshelf so you don't lose it next time.
The Last Shang King?
Di Xin was unwilling! Why was he the Last Shang King the moment he ascended the throne! Therefore, he worked day and night, conquering all sides!
But the rebel flags raised across the land clearly told him.
The Mandate of Heaven could not be defied!
But Di Xin refused to accept this Mandate of Heaven!
"The momentum of Xi Qi is like a prairie fire, but are you, Mister, helping from the shadows?"
Qing Nü shook her head instead.
"Shang Tang destroyed Xia, King Wu attacked Zhou, these are all history. I merely appeared at the right time and place, and did what was appropriate."
"Whether it was Xia Yu, Shang Tang, or Ji Fa, we all took what we needed."
Di Xin heard this and burst into laughter.
"I don't know what Mister calls history. In my eyes, Mister is omnipotent, a True Immortal!"
"Even if you praise me, I won't go easy on you."
Qing Nü bared her fangs, brandished the dagger in her hand, and asked, "Will you do it yourself, or shall I?"
Di Xin shook his head slowly.
"There's no need for you to trouble yourself, Mister. I will offer what you need. But before that, I have one more question!"
Qing Nü calculated the time and then nodded.
"Ask away."
Di Xin asked, "How do I compare to that Xia Jie?"
This was a good question.
After a moment of thought, Verdant Green Maiden replied, "You are smarter than him."
Back then, when Yu Capital was breached, Xia Jie fled with his concubine Mo Xi. After Verdant Green Maiden found him, he still refused to hand over his life's work, and thus he died miserably!
What Verdant Green Maiden hated most was people who broke their promises!
"Is that all?"
Di Xin's expression was somewhat dejected upon hearing Verdant Green Maiden's assessment of him, and he sighed.
"I thought I might earn Mister's special regard."
The sounds of killing grew closer.
Di Xin threw the torch to the ground, raised his sword, and pointed it at his own heart.
At this moment, Verdant Green Maiden began to take things out.
There were items like incense offerings and a small tripod.
"Mister, what are you doing?"
Di Xin looked at Verdant Green Maiden's actions, his expression bewildered.
"End-of-life care!"
Verdant Green Maiden set up the incense burner and snapped her fingers, igniting the incense with the flame from the torch.
"Although this was a deal with your ancestor, I also understand that I merely learned of history in advance and took a shortcut. Since you are so straightforward, I naturally have to show some appreciation."
Watching Verdant Green Maiden's nagging, Di Xin sighed with emotion.
"I never expected Mister to be the one to send me off on my final journey..."
"Since that is the case, Gu still has one last wish. I hope Mister will grant it!"
Hearing this, Verdant Green Maiden looked up in confusion.
Her vertical pupils were fierce.
"You don't want to die, do you?"
Di Xin shook his head. He looked at Verdant Green Maiden, his gaze deep. "Gu wishes to ask Mister to set fire to this Lu Tai and offer it to Gu!"
The Shao Ji, the Shang Dynasty's grandest sacrificial ritual!
The Shao King, even more important than the rest!
"I, with the Shao King's sacrifice, curse the Zhou Dynasty's Realm to be turbulent and uneasy, with no peace ever!"
As the words fell, Di Xin suddenly stabbed!
Sword light broke through blood, the bronze blade pierced his heart.
Di Xin knelt on one knee on the ground, his face turning pale almost instantly.
But even so, he still stood tall!
Verdant Green Maiden looked at the now silent Di Xin and sighed. Another historically famous person had ended his life before her.
Was Di Xin wrong?
Of course, he was. But was he truly as debauched and tyrannical as history recorded?
That was a matter of opinion.
Da Ji?
Verdant Green Maiden had seen her.
That infamous fox spirit of later generations was merely a pitiable soul whose kingdom had fallen.
Verdant Green Maiden walked behind Di Xin, collected his Heart's Blood from the sword tip, and placed it into the Gourd she carried.
There were only two drops of blood inside the Gourd.
Besides Di Xin's drop, there was also one from Xia Jie.
Verdant Green Maiden picked up a torch and set Lu Tai ablaze.
