After Pei Xiu had recorded the local customs and landscape, he looked up and realized Verdant Green Maiden was nowhere to be seen. He hurriedly packed away his things and called out to her.

Verdant Green Maiden had only just finished hearing Mermaid Woman's story when Pei Xiu's shouts rang out.
Mermaid Woman clapped her hands over her ears in alarm and leaned against the reef.
"Don't panic."
Verdant Green Maiden reassured her with a few words, then climbed onto the reef and shouted to Pei Xiu, "What are you shouting about, Pei Jiyan? Do you think something could happen to me?"
Seeing that Verdant Green Maiden was unharmed, Pei Xiu breathed a sigh of relief. "When Yu Se disappeared, it gave me quite a fright. Who knows what strange creatures might be lurking along this coast? We'd better be careful."
"Have you finished drawing the map?"

"Then go find somewhere to start a fire and cook. I'm hungry, so hurry!"
