After he nodded and said those two words, a voice rang out from afar.
"Hmph! Wei Bodhisattva, you've got some nerve!"
At the sound of that voice, Wei Jue jolted and hurriedly turned to look. A dignified, composed woman in her sixties approached from the side. After glaring at him, she bowed to Verdant Green Maiden and Hong Luan. "This old woman is Hua Wan. I pay my respects to the Goddess!"
"You know me?"
Seeing Hua Wan pay her respects, Verdant Green Maiden raised an eyebrow.
Hua Wan nodded. "Yes. Mingda once told me that without the Goddess, he wouldn't be here!"
As she spoke, she glanced at Wei Jue and snorted. "If you ask me, he'd have been better off without your teaching!"
"Madam, this..."
Seeing Hua Wan angry with him, Wei Jue grew awkward. "Your Highness and the teacher are here. Couldn't you spare me some face? We can talk about this when we get home, all right?"
Hua Wan knew she ought to give Wei Jue some face in public. She merely shot him a glare, then said no more. After greeting Verdant Green Maiden, she quietly sat beside Wei Jue.
The couple seemed to have a good relationship!
"Good! Very good!"
Verdant Green Maiden smiled. She rummaged through the Dragon Pearl and took out a Mermaid's Tear Pearl. "I didn't know you were getting married, so consider this my belated wedding gift. Take it."
The couple gazed curiously at the Mermaid's Tear Pearl in Verdant Green Maiden's hand.
"I've never seen a Treasure Bead like this," Wei Jue said. "Teacher, where did you get it? It looks incredibly valuable!"
"Good eye!"
Verdant Green Maiden praised him with a smile. "This is a Mermaid's Tear!"
At those words, the two exclaimed in unison.
"A Mermaid's Tear!"
