The Story of a Few Things About Going Premium!

My editor told me that Lord of Strange Immortals would be going premium tomorrow. Well, the free run was over.

I'll post one more free chapter later. After that, it should be VIP chapters.

First, thanks to all the readers. And thanks to my editors, Shuimò and Tòumíng, as well as all the author friends I pestered for advice while writing the opening of Lord of Strange Immortals.

I actually started this book because I hadn't gotten my fill of Chángshēng. I thought I'd try a different world and setting, and write another story in this strange, eerie style. There'll also be some material about an ancient-dynasty foundation for containing demons and monsters—it's just something I personally wanted to indulge in.

It'll most likely be a long one. One point to make clear: there won't be a revolution. Where would I even set something like that in the Late Yuan and Early Ming? (So many readers have asked, so I'm getting this out of the way.)

A word about updates. In the past, I might've worked myself into a frenzy and shouted that I'd be posting extra chapters like crazy.

But my health hasn't been great this past year. Depression, anxiety, insomnia, medication—and seeing so many fellow authors struggling with their health, too—have all made me rethink things. Besides, every time I've bitten off more than I could chew and pressured myself with wild promises, I've failed. So I've decided to take things as they come.

I'll do my best to write. When I'm doing well, I'll post more; when I'm not, I'll write what I can.

In any case, I'll keep it a steady trickle. The story's in my head; it'll come out eventually.
