"Bloodthirsty Rats have overrun the surrounding provinces and cities, but the climate and terrain keep them from reaching Shi Province. Even if a few do make it here, they won't survive the cold winter."
"Individually, they're extremely weak. In a one-on-one fight, they can't even beat an Ant Wolf."
"The real threat is the pathogen they carry—the Bloodthirsty Plague. It's a special Transcendent Curse!"
Normally, Qin Feng wouldn't have to come out for a known Infection Source. The Checkpoint's Cleanup Squad could handle it.
But when he heard there were four Bloodthirsty Rat Infection Sources, he was still quite shocked and came over specially to check things out.
"A Transcendent Curse? Does that mean you'll get infected if one attacks you?"
Cheng Ye was startled and hurriedly pressed him for an answer.
The Inspector's Handbook only mentioned Bloodthirsty Rats; it didn't go into detail about how the infection spread.
If you could turn into a rat monster just from being ambushed, they'd be no less dangerous than a Starfish Doppelganger.
"Not quite. Not every Transcendent Curse is that powerful."
Qin Feng shook his head with a laugh. "Bloodthirsty Rats spread the Bloodthirsty Plague by biting their prey, but as long as a person isn't already sick or weak, their immune system can kill the curse once it enters the body."
"There's only one situation where you can get infected."
He paused, his tone turning solemn. "When diseased Mutated Beasts kill each other, if a Scavenger happens to pick up and eat their flesh, the human immune system will fail, and they'll be infected by the curse!"
"I see."
Cheng Ye let out a sigh of relief.
Those were such harsh conditions for infection. Most people wouldn't be reckless enough to eat the flesh of a dead Mutated Beast they found
