Qing Lin was an orphaned, underfed child living on the streets of Shi Mo City. Bullied for being a mixed-blood human and Snake-Person, she had no home and initially distrusted even basic kindness. Lin Ze, acting through a Death Soldier, found her in an alley and offered her food before taking her in. 56 57

Although Qing Lin initially concealed her Snake-Person heritage out of fear of rejection, Lin Ze had already recognized her as the possessor of the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils. Rather than abandon her after teaching her basic self-defense, he arranged food, clothing, schooling, cultivation instruction, and protection through his Death Soldiers. 56 57 75
