"Y-you, you... you can fly?!"
A startled cry escaped the blonde girl's lips.
The shock in her eyes made it clear just how stunned she was.
This was West City, naturally—the backyard of the Briefs family's Capsule House.
And the one who had descended from the sky was, without question, Kairos.
The blonde girl before him was none other than Tights, the eldest daughter of Briefs and Bikini.
Actually, Kairos hadn't intended to be so direct at first. But since he had spotted her, he might as well fly over and land in front of her. It would draw some attention, saving him from having to go out of his way to show off what made him special.
Tights had barely played any role in the original story. Everything Kairos knew about her came from the bonus chapters of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman.
All he knew was that she was intelligent and brave. Even at such a young age, she possessed a uniquely adventurous spirit and feared no hardship or danger.
After all, daring to run away from home at around ten years old and venture through space required an incredible level of mental fortitude.
Ordinary people would be filled with all kinds of worries even when leaving home for another city.
More importantly, after leaving, Tights had hardly ever returned home. She merely kept in touch with her family.
In Tights's own words, she had run away to pursue her dream of becoming a top science-fiction writer and didn't want to be bound by anything.
Though that was rather heartless toward the parents who had raised her, Kairos truly admired her.
"Hello. Let me introduce myself. My name is Kairos, a Saiyan from Planet Vegeta. Sorry for dropping in unannounced, but I'd like to meet your father, Briefs, and ask him to make and modify a few things for me."
After sizing up Tights, who was about his age, Kairos smiled. Following his brief introduction, he explained why he had come.
"A Saiyan... from Planet Vegeta? Y-you're an alien?!" Tights's mouth fell open. She quickly covered it with a hand, her face full of disbelief.
Just as Kairos knew, although she was only ten now, she had already set her sights on becoming a top science-fiction writer.
She had secretly written stories about aliens coming to Earth before, but the aliens she imagined had always been strange-looking giant octopuses. They couldn't possibly look just like Earthlings.
"To you Earthlings, I really am an alien." Kairos's smile deepened as he nodded.
"But you look just like us... Even if you can fly, how can you prove you're an alien?" Tights was still reluctant to believe him.
The girl's thoughts were still very simple. Her first concern wasn't whether he was dangerous, but whether he really was an alien.
Kairos considered for a moment. Wanting to establish a good relationship with her first, he unwrapped the tail around his waist and showed it to Tights.
Earthlings didn't have tails.
Tights naturally knew that, but she still looked suspicious and highly wary.
After thinking about it, Kairos realized that while ordinary Earthlings didn't have tails, Earth also had Animal-Type Earthlings and all sorts of strange lifeforms. Someone having a tail really wasn't that unusual.
So, with a thought and a wave of his hand, he retrieved his Spaceship from the System Space.
"This Spaceship should be enough proof."
Kairos entered a command into the Spaceship, and the hatch opened.
"Is this a Spaceship???" Tights opened her mouth again and tilted her head back to examine its strange exterior.
Seeing the unbelievable curiosity on Tights's face, Kairos stepped into the Spaceship first, then smiled at her. "Want to come in and take a look? Don't worry, I mean you no harm."
Upon hearing that, Tights looked at Kairos's sunny smile. Though she was still somewhat wary, her curiosity overcame her fear.
Once she stepped into the Spaceship and saw its interior, along with the high-tech equipment she had never seen before, Tights finally looked convinced.
"You really are an alien! I never thought aliens would look exactly like us Earthlings! I always imagined aliens would look bizarre and strange..."
"Some aliens do have unusual appearances—mutants, plant people, dinosaur people, octopus people, bird people, and so on... It's only that we Saiyans happen to resemble you Earthlings," Kairos replied.
It was a bit of science for her, and it let the ten-year-old learn such information ahead of time. More importantly, it would bring them closer and help her lower her guard around him.
If he got closer to her and won her over, then with her acting as an intermediary, dealing with Briefs afterward would be much easier.
Although Briefs had been portrayed in the original story as a very easygoing, kind-hearted man, he was still the chairman of a major corporation.
If you lacked status, standing, or connections, never mind whether he would pay attention to you—whether he would even agree to see you was another matter entirely.
Otherwise, if anyone with a problem could ask Briefs for help, wouldn't that be absurd?
Although this meeting had not gone quite as Kairos had expected, as he gradually got to know Tights, he sincerely established an initial friendly relationship with her. Using the data stored in the Spaceship, he further helped her learn about several other alien races.
It wasn't until a sound came from outside the Spaceship that their in-depth conversation came to an end.
The arrivals were Briefs and Bulma, who had just finished breakfast.
The moment they entered the backyard, they spotted the strange vehicle and walked over.
It had to be said that Briefs in Age 737 was very young, nothing like how old he was in Age 749.
Four-year-old Bulma was adorable as well. Though still little, her exceptionally high intelligence already put her far beyond children her age.
When he learned that Kairos was an alien and that this special vehicle was actually a Spaceship, Briefs became interested too.
He was passionate about developing all kinds of novel high technology, and the Hoi-Poi Capsule was his greatest achievement.
Now that there was an alien Spaceship available for observation and study, it was a learning opportunity for him.
Kairos did not stop Briefs. After all, he would need his help later to improve the Spaceship and would also have to trouble him to build a Gravity Training Room.
What surprised Kairos even more was that Bulma was already passionate about scientific research at such a young age and deeply interested in all kinds of advanced technology. Her tiny body moved constantly between the various devices, examining, touching, and operating them. From time to time, she even put on a thoughtful expression.
When she came across a control console she could not climb onto, Kairos could not help but laugh. He took the initiative to pick her up and set her in the pilot's seat so she could see more clearly.
Overall, their first meeting and first contact had ultimately developed in the direction Kairos had hoped for...
