Shortcut to Obtaining Proficiency Upgrade Cards

For two days straight, Master Roshi had not carried the weighted turtle shell on his back.

There was no particular reason for it. After his battle with Kairos, he had gained some insights himself and was undergoing his own training.

And over the past two days, he had frequently stepped in to offer guidance and instruction, so he had remained in this state.

For him, it had been many years since he had experienced the feeling that only came from teaching disciples.

The last time he had taught martial arts with such seriousness was when he had instructed Son Gohan and the Ox-King.

By his reckoning, that had been several decades ago.

Standing by the shore, Master Roshi watched Kairos, who was sitting on the beach with his eyes closed, concentrating on his insights.

"This kid really is a complete monster! In less than two days, he's drained this old man of every last bit of essence I've accumulated over the years," Master Roshi muttered.

If it had not happened right before his eyes, he would never have believed it, even if beaten to death.

These were the fruits of his three hundred years of training. The Kamehameha in particular had taken him fifty years to master, yet Kairos had learned it after seeing him use it just once—and had performed it even more perfectly than he did.

Master Roshi did not know that Kairos's perfect-level Kamehameha had been a system reward.

And the reason Kairos had used it in front of him was not to show off, but to let him see what a perfect-proficiency Kamehameha looked like.

On the beach, Kairos abruptly opened his eyes.

His aura erupted around him. As Kairos raised a hand, golden energy burst forth like lightning, controlled and condensed above his palm.

Without question, this move was Thunder Shock Surprise.

It was clearly far more powerful than when Master Roshi used it.

After all, the gap in strength was simply too vast. Even if Kairos's battle power were only a few thousand points, the force of Master Roshi's version could not compare.

As the system notification sounded, Kairos's lips curled into a smile. He then dispersed the energy in his hand.

At last, he had fully grasped and learned this Special Move.

Those several hours of meditation and contemplation had not been wasted.

Over the past two days, Kairos had gradually learned the Turtle School Fighting Style, Drunken Fist, Mind Reading, Telepathy, Paralysis Technique, and Thunder Shock Surprise.

Six techniques, six Advanced Achievement rewards—and every reward had been a Skill Proficiency Upgrade Card.

Including the one he had saved from before, Kairos now possessed seven proficiency upgrade cards. He could easily raise any one or two of his currently mastered skills to perfect-level proficiency.

For example, the proficient-level Four-Body Fist only required two proficiency upgrade cards to reach perfect level.

Likewise, the beginner-level Destructo Disc only needed four to reach perfect level.

Having found a way to farm Skill Proficiency Upgrade Cards, Kairos became even more eager to master additional skills.

Unfortunately, Master Roshi had nothing more here that he could teach him.

As for the Evil Containment Wave, Master Roshi had not mentioned it, and Kairos could not exactly bring it up himself.

After all, how could he explain knowing about it?

Kairos disdained using lies to obtain what he wanted, yet he could not say that he was a transmigrator who knew everything.

According to the original story, learning the Evil Containment Wave required not only absolute talent, but also witnessing someone perform it firsthand.

In the early stages of the Dragon Ball story, this move truly was an absolute hard-control technique, but its user would also die after using the Evil Containment Wave.

Although the fate of dying from the Evil Containment Wave was later overcome and changed—so long as the user was powerful enough, they would not die.

With that thought, Kairos stopped dwelling on it.

At the very least, he had gained quite a lot from Master Roshi, and that was enough.

One could be greedy, but not excessively so.

Next, he could search for the Crane School.

Once he found Master Shen, he could learn all the skills that man had created. At the very least, he would gain many more Skill Proficiency Upgrade Cards.

Retracting his aura, Kairos looked toward Master Roshi with a smile.

Seeing Kairos look over, Master Roshi immediately understood. He took the initiative to walk forward and said, "Looks like I truly have nothing left to teach you. You learned even Thunder Shock Surprise in just a few hours. Saiyan talent really puts people to shame."

Hearing this, Kairos smiled modestly. "You flatter me, Master Roshi. Learning a move is not actually difficult—creating one is what's difficult! Without your guidance, I could never have learned them so quickly!"

Giving Master Roshi the credit also brought them closer.

There would surely be more interactions between them in the future.

Since Kairos had come to Earth in this era, he did not intend to merely pass through. He also hoped to leave a good impression on the people he cared about.

Such as Kami Piccolo, Mr. Popo, Korin, Briefs, Tights and Bulma, Grandpa Gohan...

Hearing Kairos's words, Master Roshi burst into laughter.

"To be able to teach a monstrous genius like you, even if only for two short days, this old man feels truly honored. If you can carry forward my techniques and take them beyond Earth, that would be a wonderful thing."

"Don't worry. I won't let your techniques be buried in obscurity, especially the Kamehameha and Thunder Shock Surprise!" Kairos nodded, accepting the request.

An hour later.

Kairos bid Master Roshi farewell and left Kame House.

Before leaving, Kairos left Master Roshi some gold, silver, and treasures so that he could live a better life from now on.

Over the past two days, Kairos had noticed that although Master Roshi lacked nothing while living in seclusion at Kame House, his actual standard of living could only be considered average.

Though he was Earth's God of Martial Arts and the foremost authority in the martial arts world, Master Roshi would never do anything evil for money.

The reason Master Roshi had been able to remain self-sufficient over the years was actually related to his mount, Sea Turtle.

Every so often, Sea Turtle would scour the ocean floor for pearls or treasure and bring them back to Master Roshi.

Kairos had seen it with his own eyes. Otherwise, he truly could not have imagined that Master Roshi's source of income over the years had depended on Sea Turtle.

Still, Master Roshi probably went ashore from time to time to do good deeds and earn some wealth that way.

This could be seen from when Master Roshi had brought Kakarot and Krillin to the mainland to train—quite a few people knew him.

PS: I've been thinking about how to quickly skip through these chapters, but I still have to write the transition, since this is a system novel and it concerns the later plot.
