Feeling the knife at his back press tighter, Song Qingshu secretly sighed. If his protective qi had not covered his entire body, he really would not have dared play along with her like this.
"Hey, have you seen a young girl?" After several people entered and searched everywhere without finding anything, they finally glared viciously at the young man on the bed.
Song Qingshu looked puzzled. These people had strange accents, slightly curly hair, deep-set eyes, and broad noses. Yet they did not resemble the blond, blue-eyed Westerners of later generations, nor did they look anything like people from the Central Plains. Where had they come from?
"Scared stupid? We're talking to you!" one of them snapped when he did not answer.
"Yes. She's behind me," Song Qingshu replied, apparently eager to stir up trouble.
The girl had never expected him to dare betray her. Her knife involuntarily pressed forward, but at the last moment, she still did not stab him.
"There's someone else in the bed!" someone with sharp eyes immediately noticed the bulging quilt. There was clearly more than one person inside.
"Pull back the quilt," another ordered. Several of them surrounded the bed together, but all they could vaguely see was a woman's lovely hair spilling out. They could not tell whether she was the person they sought.
Song Qingshu looked troubled. "That might not be appropriate. She's the most popular girl I found at Yihong Courtyard, and she isn't wearing anything under the quilt right now."
Hearing him label her a brothel woman, the girl secretly fumed. Yet she could not lash out at a time like this and could only grit her teeth and endure it.
"A girl from Yihong Courtyard?" The leader clearly did not believe him. "If she's from Yihong Courtyard, why would
