Afterword

Actually, when I first started this book, I only meant to write it for my own amusement. Some of you may remember that the original blurb said it was "the life of an ordinary Universe Venerable." The ending had already been decided: it would close when the Yunmo Ship arrived on Earth with Demon Hand King in pursuit. That life was always going to end with Luo Feng, because I felt that after Luo Feng, the story was more or less set in stone. Within the framework of Swallowed Star, whether or not he surpassed Luo Feng, he would at least remain the main thread of the story. Later, I changed the blurb to "Universe Overlord," but people still argued about it, so I deleted that line.

The updates were terrible at first, but someone kept voting for the book, and I thought, "Someone's reading it, so I should at least update more diligently." Then my first editor contacted me and said that writing a Swallowed Star story without transmigrating or giving the protagonist a cheat wouldn't work; he suggested I start over. I told him it was just a personal hobby, and he left it alone. I didn't sign a contract until more than five hundred thousand words in. That was probably the only period when I managed two updates a day. Without your support, I probably wouldn't have finished it. Sometimes, when I saw people still voting after a long hiatus, or urging me to update, it gave me the motivation to carry on.

Does this even count as fanfiction?

People have different impressions of fanfiction in different eras. Back then, most of the fanfiction I saw expanded on or continued the original story. For Swallowed Star, that usually meant either writing about what happened after the characters
