Why were Rare Treasure-grade items so cheap?
Of course, it was because this was still the novice period. One had to understand that treasures during the novice period were not truly treasures; turning them into one's own strength was what truly mattered.
If one could not even defend one's own territory, then there was no point talking about treasures. Others were not fools either. There were only two possibilities for selling something of this grade at such a low price.
The first was that there was a problem with the territory. More precisely, they had chosen a slightly higher difficulty during the Void Trial and wanted to take a gamble, only for their troops to be wiped out. They also lacked the resources to recruit more troops, so they chose to sell cheaply.
This was extremely common during the novice period. They overestimated the strength of their troops and underestimated the difficulty of the Void Trial, which led to treasures frequently being sold at bargain prices.
There was no helping it. If they did not sell cheaply, they could not develop. If they could not develop, they could not defend their territory. This was paying for their own actions.
The other fundamental reason lords sold treasures cheaply was for better development: selling a treasure they could not use in exchange for resources they could.
They could develop their territories better this way. Such lords often understood what to keep and what to give up, and had more long-term plans for growth.
After pondering for a moment, Su Ye replied.
[Otherworld Traveler: Alright, but I only have Gold Coins, not Origin Crystals. Let's trade with Gold Coins.]
Lin Xiaoxiao looked at Su Ye's message, a hint of slyness in her eyes. "Twenty thousand Gold Coins... that's no small sum on only the second day. Either his initial territory has a gold mine, or his troops are strong enough. No Origin Crystals? Not necessarily. Still, he counts as a promising prospect. I just don't know which kind."
[Little Merchant: Alright, boss. I've sent you a private trade request. Please confirm it.]
Su Ye looked at the private trade request that popped up.
[ Ding: Little Merchant has initiated a private trade with you. Confirm? ]
Su Ye chose to confirm.
An azure chat window appeared before Su Ye and Lin Xiaoxiao.
Su Ye and Lin Xiaoxiao uploaded their respective trade items at the same time.
The trade was completed. Su Ye obtained the Dark Seed, while Lin Xiaoxiao obtained twenty thousand Gold Coins.
[Little Merchant: Pleasure doing business with you, boss. If you need anything, you can always come to Xiaoxiao.]
Su Ye looked at Little Merchant's message.
[Otherworld Traveler: I actually do. Technology Seeds. If you come across any, help me keep an eye out for them.]
Lin Xiaoxiao quickly replied.
[Little Merchant: OK, got it, boss.]
Su Ye looked over the information, then closed the chat panel. How much Lin Xiaoxiao could earn from the twenty thousand Gold Coins was her own skill. Without her, Su Ye would not have found the Dark Seed so quickly.
"Looks like there are still some formidable people among the Novice Lords," Su Ye thought as he looked at the Dark Seed.
On Lin Xiaoxiao's end, as she looked at the Gold Coins from the trade, her eyes curved into crescents. "Technology Seeds? First a Dark Seed, then a Technology Seed. What does he want these things for? Stockpiling them, or... Whatever. The customer is god, and Gold Coin resources are the god among gods. A merchant's rule: do not ask why, just complete the trade. Knowing too much is not a good thing."
Lin Xiaoxiao began contacting the merchants under her command. She did not know whether Su Ye was truly a big shot, but so far, Su Ye was undoubtedly her biggest client.
Whether he would soar to great heights after the novice period or fade into obscurity was a matter for later. For now, it was enough that he was her biggest client.
"Plans can't keep up with changes. I'll upgrade the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary first, otherwise today's recruitment slots will be wasted." Su Ye walked straight toward the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary.
He looked at the black church.
[ Ding: Consume Origin Crystal x1000, Dark Seed x1, and Gold Coin x1W to upgrade the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary? ]
"Upgrade!" Su Ye immediately confirmed as he looked at the black church before him.
Black light shot into the sky, forming a black pillar that pierced through Su Ye's territory.
Figures appeared one after another beside Su Ye.
Lilith, Original Sin Fallen Angel, Thalys, and the Gene Praetorian appeared behind Su Ye in succession.
Lilith looked at the changes in the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary and let out a sigh of relief. She had thought something unexpected had happened, but it seemed to have merely upgraded.
As the light faded, the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary stood ever more profoundly upon the earth. The surrounding space seemed to grow viscous, continuously contracting inward as though collapsing. The Fallen Heaven Sanctuary was like a black hole, endlessly devouring all light.
Su Ye immediately checked the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary's updated information.
Name: Fallen Heaven Sanctuary Level: 3 Rank: God Level Faction: Chaos Faction Recruitment: 10/30 (Daily) Cost: 1 Gold Coin (1M) Halo: Primordial Dark Eternity Upgrade: Origin Crystal x10000, Gold Coin x10W, Dark Seed x10 ...
"It gained a Halo, but are these upgrade materials for real?" Su Ye looked at the materials required to upgrade the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary. Each round was more outrageous than the last.
This was fucking absurd.
Shaking his head, Su Ye checked the Halo that had appeared after the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary's upgrade. This was exclusive to Barracks. Once a Barracks reached a certain level, it would develop a corresponding Halo.
Primordial Dark Eternity: God Level Halo, an exclusive Halo of the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary. Any troops recruited through the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary would not truly die. After death, they would return to Primordial Darkness and be reborn, unless the Barracks was destroyed!!
"Uh..." Su Ye looked at the Primordial Dark Eternity Halo. Another Resurrection Armor—and this one had no cooldown. Although Valhalla could revive people, it could only do so once per day.
But this Primordial Dark Eternity was truly a little unreasonable.
"So this is the Halo that comes with a God-Level Barracks? It really is... fantastic." Su Ye's smile gradually turned unhinged.
The only regrettable thing was that Primordial Dark Eternity only worked on troops recruited through the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary. That was rather unfortunate.
"Forget it. I can't be that greedy." Su Ye looked toward Lilith and Thalys.
All attributes within a lord's territory could stack, which meant Lilith now had two Resurrection Armors: one with a cooldown and one without.
"Lilith, Thalys, come with me." Su Ye spoke to Lilith and Thalys, then led them directly into the Fallen Heaven Sanctuary.
There were still ten recruitment slots left for today, and Su Ye naturally would not waste them.
Recruitment slots refreshed daily and did not stack. There were only so many each day; if one did not recruit them, then when the next day refreshed, it would be a new day's recruitment slots. This was also one of the main reasons many lords sold treasures cheaply in exchange for resources.
