Chapter Summaries

Herohero met Clementine in a glowing forest clearing to apologize and offer her a gift, but his careless explanation made her believe Naiyuan had been eaten. Clementine broke down and attacked Herohero.

Herohero tried to restrain Clementine without hurting her while she attacked him, but her despair led her to attempt suicide. Naiyuan arrived in time to stop her, and Clementine recognized him.

Naiyuan, Momonga, and Herohero returned to Nazarick with Clementine after finding the tomb concealed in a vast forest created by Mare. Naiyuan reunited with Entoma and took her away from the First Floor, leaving Grant nervous and Clementine bewildered.

The alarm summoned the soldiers and adventurers to defend E-Rantel while they awaited reinforcements, though the Adventurer Guild's Guildmaster feared the city would fall.

• Yago woke after a chilling wind and heard cemetery patrol soldiers desperately demand that the city gate be opened.
• The surviving patrol soldiers reported that the cemetery's Undead had risen and overwhelmed their companions, and the guard captain saw a huge horde approaching through the mist.
• The guard captain ordered the alarm bell rung, sent soldiers to notify the Adventurer Guild and city lord, and had the gate reinforced.
• The ten alarm rings warned E-Rantel's residents and adventurers that more than a thousand Undead threatened the city.
• The Adventurer Guild's white-haired Guildmaster issued an emergency quest and ran to the gate, expecting E-Rantel to struggle until reinforcements arrived.

As E-Rantel was overwhelmed by the Undead, Ainzach saved Yago from a Demon Brain and urged him to choose an honorable death by fighting. Yago regained his resolve, while Naiyuan and his companions prepared to enter the battle.

• The Undead assaulted E-Rantel's gates and walls as soldiers, adventurers, and civilians fought to defend the city.
• Yago gave up resisting, but a Demon Brain grabbed him until Ainzach split the Undead apart with his greatsword.
• Ainzach challenged Yago to keep fighting and seek an honorable death, then charged back into battle.

Ainzach sacrificed himself to kill a high-tier Undead and turn the battle against the Undead tide. As he lay dying, Naiyuan arrived and, admiring Ainzach’s courage, dropped dark red blood before walking toward the Undead.

• Ainzach struggled to hold the city wall against the Undead until a level 29 Giant Brain Monster appeared.
• Ainzach threw Yago to safety and prepared to face the Giant Brain Monster alone.
• Ainzach used his Martial Skill to appear weak, then unleashed Holy Light at close range and destroyed the Giant Brain Monster while healing and empowering the defenders.
• The adventurers and soldiers rallied under the Holy Light and pushed back the Undead, while Ainzach collapsed with his body broken and burned.

Naiyuan, Clementine, Hamsuke, and two Shadow Demons arrived to turn back the Undead assault on E-Rantel. As Naiyuan’s group advanced toward the cemetery and the disguised Momonga and Herohero fought from the walls, Ainzach’s forgotten corpse began to change.

• With the defenders exhausted and the gates close to breaking, Naiyuan, Clementine, Hamsuke, Momonga, and Herohero appeared on the wall.
• Naiyuan used the Creation Dragon Knight Armor’s Purifying Light and a powerful Slash to destroy a swath of Undead, then leaped down with Clementine and Hamsuke to advance toward the cemetery.
• The Shadow Demons disguised as Momonga and Herohero stayed behind to protect E-Rantel, and one summoned seven Elemental Spirits to attack the Undead.
• The defenders watched the Elemental Spirits devastate the Undead, while Yago and A-Jie recognized their supposed Gold-rank friends’ extraordinary strength.
• Ainzach’s corpse began to regain color and fill out, and his brows twitched as the battle continued.
