Tang San was the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang Hao regarded Tang San’s twin martial souls—Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer—as a rare gift, while also fearing the consequences of his son becoming too prominent. 4

At Nuoding City Junior Soul Master Academy, Tang San became associated with Yu Xiaogang, who saw Tang San’s Innate Full Soul Power and Blue Silver Grass as an opportunity to prove his theories. Tang San’s early conflict with Chu Chen began in the work-study dormitory after he challenged Chu Chen on Xiao Wu’s behalf. 5 10

Chu Chen’s Blue Silver Emperor repeatedly suppressed and withered Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass, undermining Tang San’s control-system fighting style. Tang San later missed the chance to obtain the Man Faced Demon Spider spirit ring and external spirit bone when Chu Chen killed the beast first. 10 21

After Xiao Wu was exposed as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast and captured by Chu Chen, Tang San was unable to save her despite fighting alongside the Shrek students. He then learned that Chu Chen had taken Ah Yin, her spirit bone, and the Blue Silver King opportunity that Tang Hao had intended for him. 53 54 56

Accepting that his Blue Silver Grass could not become the Blue Silver Emperor while Chu Chen lived, Tang San shifted his cultivation toward the Clear Sky Hammer. Under Tang Hao’s guidance, he began attaching ten-thousand-year spirit rings to it even while still a Soul Ancestor. 56 65

Tang San was seemingly killed after his chest was pierced during the battle around Sea God Mountain, but his body was removed by black-red light, which Chu Chen attributed to the Asura God. Tang San was initially proud, protective, and willing to accept responsibility. After losing his first challenge against Chu Chen, he apologized on Xiao Wu’s behalf while vowing to avenge the defeat. 10

His defining motivation became revenge. Xiao Wu’s capture, the loss of Ah Yin and her spirit bone, Tang Hao’s death, Yu Xiaogang’s death, and the collapse of the Tang Sect each intensified his hatred of Chu Chen. 56 133 156 161

Tang San was determined and resourceful, repeatedly pursuing stronger cultivation methods, higher-level spirit rings, divine inheritances, and Tang Sect hidden weapons.
