After leaving Lost Bar, Jack took out a tiny glass container. The black woman beside him gave it a curious glance. "What is that?"

"Alcohol I brought out from there." Jack smiled and glanced at July. His expression remained utterly impassive, unmoved by anything external, while the black woman, April, had noticed nothing amiss either.

Jack shook his head. This matter seemed far too subtle. Without knowing the truth, even the people involved might not be able to spot it.

"Why bring that along? Though a lot of bars don't allow you to take alcohol out, this little place should be negotiable with the owner, shouldn't it?"

"That's right. Just consider it a professional habit of mine—I'm taking it back for testing." Jack's words made April's face change slightly. The alcohol had been very good, so she had drunk quite a lot of it earlier.

If there was a problem with the alcohol, she would definitely be the first one to suffer for it.

"No need to worry so much. If it could cause problems, the contractors before us would have run into trouble long ago." Jack gave a soft laugh to reassure her. "Here's the thing: I suspect these drinks have been mixed with some substance capable of affecting us contractors."

His words calmed April down. "What did you notice?"

A place that had yielded nothing to so many organizations—and he had detected something after just one visit?

Jack shook his head and looked at July, who stood quietly to the side. "There was an element of luck, really. If July's reaction hadn't been off, I wouldn't have noticed this."

April thought back and nodded in sudden realization. "At the time, I thought you told him to get milk. So that was his own idea."

"That's right." Jack nodded.
